Why did it take the MSU game to start this VR training? Why not the week before FSU?

We're not the only team with this virtual practicing system.

Definitely not. The VR training for sports has been around for a while now and will only get better. The sky is the limit for the applications. The technology just needs to mature to reach expectations. But you may have seen some of the ATT commercials where they are putting AR displays in football helmets for deaf players that show the next play call. Really cool stuff.

That should have been utilized all season and off season but I appreciate the fact they started using it and have been seeing positive results from it. Hopefully the utilize that the entire spring and off season with Nuss instead of mid-season.

I spent a ton of time with him when our boys played ball together in HS. Never found him to be anything but nice and was quick to share a lot of interesting stories I wouldn’t have otherwise heard. And he sure took great care of our athletes whenever they got injured during games, I feel blessed that we had him there.

They should actually be marketing it las a QB lab like Wake did with their “pitcher lab”.

Some might say we are lagging behind other programs...

"Prior to the 2016 football season, Head Coach Dabo Swinney had consulted with Strivr on implementing VR training for the South Carolina-based team."

I appreciate what he’s done for LSU but jack, personally, is a fricking a-hole.
No he isn’t. Jack is a great guy. Known him for 20+ years.

The impact Jack has had on LSU is almost unmeasurable. There is a reason that he has stayed at LSU as long as he has, despite all the changes throughout the athletic department over the years.

Marucci has probably patented the tech and wants to sell it to other programs.

So it makes sense to you that this staff, who has their players using wearables to monitor their sleep, their speed, how many calories they consume, their heart rates, body temp, their recovery from
the previous practice or game, at a school that has sunk $10s of millions into their Football Ops building (part of which included installing—at every player’s locker—the napping moon pods patented by the man in the OPs very article), an athletic department that has a renowned chef and his staff under their employ and at the football team’s disposal, who purchased/secured hundreds of air-conditioning helmets the
staff implemented to help their players battle the Louisiana summer’s scorching heat and humidity to ensure they were still able to have the most efficient practices possible, whose starting QB came into the Ops building so early every morning they had to change its entire protocol to get in and out of the thing, who all make a ton of money and, I’m just guessing here, would like to continue doing so and, maybe, one day, even more…had a state of the art virtual reality practicing screen right there IN the building the whole time, that just sat off in a darkened corner as everybody walked by it every day, simply refusing to even acknowledge its very existence until the 6th week of the season? That? That—makes sense to you?

Sorry, got a little carried away there. There was probably just something wrong with the software. Or they just needed to turn it off and then back on again. I’m not sure what it was preventing Daniels from using until MSU week, but I just don’t buy he was ever like “Nah, fam, Im good.”

I really believe virtual reality is going to be big in sports training espcially for QBs and baseball hitters.

what better way to practice reading defenses than being able to see them out there.

and how much would it help a hitter to see the spin and movement on a ball.

the issue is replicating arm action but eventually teams will plug in tape on a pitcher and batters will see arm action spin movement from
the batters box on all their pitches before they face them.

All of this is already done. Hell there’s a VR pitch recognition game that you can download on the Oculus. High school kids use this. This isn’t groundbreaking stuff

I mean custom scouting reports for hittersnwhere you not just reading fastballs and slider ercb but you get to see the shape and break of your opponents.

idk if they have that.

I’m sure it helped but nowhere near as much as what it’s being made out to be. Jayden Daniels got better because he worked hard and has good offensive coaches. VR helped sure, but to say VR is the prime reason for Daniels season is dumb.

I thought i heard earlier this year that they’ve had it a while and it was mainly a gadget recruiting tool but Jayden has used it way more than prior qbs. In this video he says they improved it and used a lot more since the msu game.
