If you haven't listened to his post game presser, you should.

Basically, there was an attempted steal of home a couple days ago they saw on film that the catcher stepped in front of/on the plate. So when his batter got down two strikes, and two outs in the inning, he purposely sent his runner, knowing he would likely be thrown out, but counting on getting the balk call from the umpire.

Playing 3D chess, that guy.

But sucks for him, he doesn't have Steven Freaking Milam, does he?

Geaux Tigers!

I figured it was some shite like that.

And what’s to lose? If he doesn’t get the call, inning’s just over.

Neal didn’t violate the rule so he benefited unjustly. The good guys won, so it’s cool.

That’s what good coaches do. Most of us probably wouldn’t be upset if that was called on the spot, its just you wait until a half inning later to call that while the same runner doesn’t even touch home plate.

He needs to coach his batters better!

The batter was technically OUT when he stepped out of BBox during a pitched ball! That is an auto STRIKE and his strike 3

Any coach who intentionally calls a play to manipulate a rule is a count.

This, and it is absolutely ridiculus that any scoring play cannot be reviewed. The level of officiating in the SEC is embarrsing for the league and an unjustice to the kids and coaches.

I saw that play too, and since it was ruled legal, I figured ours was too. Still don’t know what the right call is.

When the rule says that the catcher can’t step in front of home plate, does that mean towards the pitcher or towards 3rd base?

Kendall Rogers had a good point. Thank goodness this game wasn’t to determine a regional host or top 8 seed. They need to figure it out going forward. Absolutely cannot happen.

This.

Crazy story. About 10 years ago I watched Grace Christian win a game against Menard on a walk off walk. Grace Christian pinch hit a midget with the bases loaded and told him to not swing the bat. It won them the game, but the coach looked like a pretty big piece of shite

I don’t understand why you are fixated on that. If an LSU player simply tackled the runner coming home they would award him a run even though he didn’t touch the plate. It’s the same with a balk with a runner on first; he gets awarded second even though he hadn’t touched second. Would it make you feel better if the runner came out of the dugout, after the call was made, and touched home?
