It is completely realistic to see one person get ejected for fighting and the other for something different.
You can go watch the video. BOTH players got ejected for "unsportsmanlike conduct". Yet, somehow between the game and the Alamo Bowl a month later BYU knew their guy had to sit out

FACTS
1. Haulcey gets in fight, gets ejected
2. It is determined to be an unsportsmanlike conduct ejection, not a fighting ejection. This is listed in every after-the-fact game note that is publicly available.
3. Some time after the game, Houston coaches get a letter saying that it was upgraded to a fighting ejection, by the BIG 12, not the NCAA, warranting a suspension.
4. No one tells Haulcey.
5. Haulcey leaves Houston high and dry in the spring, they feel no obligation to tell him.
I believe someone butthurt at Houston leaked it to Clemson. If Haulcey didn't know, and Houston didn't have a duty to inform LSU of an internal BIG 12 decision, there is zero chance LSU would have known about this.
Just chicken shite from Houston, Clemson, and the NCAA.

Why wouldn’t that information have been provided by the NCAA when he got cleared to play for LSU? That’s pretty common sense, yep good this kid is eligible, oh by the way BIG12 apparently sent a letter to UH in December upgrading the ejection to fighting so he’s suspended for the first half of the next game.

Or, how about ask the NCAA since, you know, its THEIR rule.
"Hey, NCAA. We just took this guy as a transfer. We see he was ejected in his last game of the season. Does he have to sit out the 1st half of our first game? Kthanxbye.
Like you said later in your post, you don’t draw attention to it. Play dumb.
It also doesn’t change anything for LSU’s prep. It’s a half of football. He was always going to get the same practice reps and do all the same game prep.

Obviously it would be advantageous to our preparation and to our players to know this a long time ago

Guilty as charged do the time

This shite never goes LSU’s way.

How are y’all this fricking stupid?
If you had this magical crystal ball that the officiating crew changed the ruling after the game and sent a letter to the big 12 which then sent a letter to Houston who didn't inform Haulcy then why didn't you tell LSU?
This is such a weird situation yet you're giving the NCAA clearing house and Houston a pass. Get back to us when you get Charlie Baker and Dabo's mess cleaned off your chin and explain how LSU could've predicted this.
He was cleared by the NCAA to transfer. They apparently knew he was suspended yet cleared the player and didn't inform LSU of the suspension. This sort of thing is literally the reason the exist. Rule enforcement.

Who cares it’s one half.

Didn't they just have a starter that had DUI charges dropped last week?

Lots of dumbassery being commented in this thread.
It's perfectly plausible that neither LSU nor Haulcy himself knew that (1) he had committed a suspension-worthy offense and (2) that the penalty would carry over to the next season and (3) to the player's next school.
Rules are rules, but sportsmanship still matters. And for Clemson to bring the matter to the NCAA's attention three days before the game is a dick move. But Clemson is gotta Clemson, I guess. This is why most of educated America laughs at Dabo.
If the SEC had a real commissioner, he would inform the NCAA that one of its conference members is questioning the timing and circumstances surrounding the BYU game altercation, and that LSU is appealing that nobody informed them in a timely manner.
Sankey should say, sure, LSU's appeal will be scheduled to be heard on Monday, Sept. 1. Haulcy's suspension could then be served for the first half of the Louisiana Tech game.
Eat it, Clemson.

He was ejected for unsportsmanlike behavior. That doesn’t carry a suspension on next game. Without Clemson bringing this to ncaa attention and pointing out fighting, Haulcy would play the whole game.

The real question is ‘how did one of us not pick up on this?’ No one?
Positive note is he’ll be fresh in the second half.

frick that. Send him out there anyway. Not like the dickless ncaa is going to do anything about it.
