Update - this dude and 2 other LSU track and field athletes are representing Team USA in Peru this week.

LSU link

Recent Catholic High grad and LSU Track and Field signee, Paul Catalanatto, won the Boys Javelin event at the Nike Outdoor Nationals in Eugene.

Awesome story about a local kid winning state the last two seasons and winning this years Nike nationals event. His win and earlier season throw of 232 qualified the young man for worlds in Peru.

His 232 earlier this year would have put him in the top 15 for the NCAA javelin championships last season.
Maybe LSU will have another NCAA national champion in a few years?

Geaux Paul!

The guy that came in second behind Catalanatto(62+) in the 5A state championships with a throw of 59 and some change is a sophomore at West Monroe. Maybe LSU can grab him in a couple of years as well.

Louisiana has cranked out some talented throwers the past decade. Glad we’ve been able to keep them home

Normally, I don’t agree with someone representing their “parent’s country” or some place they left as an infant, just to get on the Olympic team.

Mondo actually lives in the US half the year and half in Sweden, so I’m good with it. Throw in Desiré Inglander, man is living his best life!

Paul Cat was a great guy, indeed. He was a Kenner boy until his family moved to Waggaman his Sr. year. Back in the fall of 1976, he gave me my first Freshman initiation (writing Class of 77 on my face in lipstick, lol) at Bonnabel High Schol. 4 years later, he gave me a student worker job at LSU in a place that basically was a Sports Bar. I can't remember the name, but it was across the street from where the Visitors entered TS. I remember visiting him at the old Cuban Liquor on Perkins after he bought it and changed the name to Paul Cat's.
Just a genuinely nice guy that absolutely loved life. I'm sure he's smiling broadly in Heaven.

Mr. Catalanotto passed away a few years ago, from a long fight with cancer. I hope your fate us even worse than his, a-hole!

I’m pretty sure the poster was just making the normal TD board joke about dads posting about their kids.

It’s all good.

Also like another poster stated, Paul’s family is from right here in Louisiana. If he is fortunate to represent a country in the Olympics it will be for the good guys.
