He might not have been the only problem, but when your team captain is on candid video not really wanting to be near you after his LSU career is potentially over and you have several players that are making public statements that imply they are happy he is gone, then he lost the locker room and he had to go.

Look Matt you should have thought about coaching better so you would have scored better on CBK’s end of season performance review. Your defense was a mess. If you want to be retained, do better. A defense ranking higher than 100 in the nation is not an LSU standard, ever.

Did LSU just miss on every defensive player they got? How can you have a top 5 offense and the 114th defense if it's not coaching? Is the talent level that bad compared to offensive players?
He's partially right in that the talent level of the defense is lower than we've seen since probably pre-Saban.
This is a multi-year project to return this defense to top half of the SEC.

No offense, but did you go to a game last year? I saw countless players with their hands on their hips watching our opponent run right by them. I saw our players fussing at each other about not tackling whoever they were supposed to. I saw zero blitzes all year. I saw a bend don’t break defense that broke every damn time. I saw zero adjustments after halftimes. I saw players gassed, I saw them out of position, and I saw complete incompetence on the Defensive side of the ball. Even if our players weren’t the best, a decent coach would have them in position and tackling. Matt House apparently was an expert in flag football, and he clearly never coached tackle football. Screw him and I hope he doesn’t ruin any other program in football. Glad he’s gone, and I’ll not have any different opinion next year. I’m convinced an oyster could do better coaching than House.
