Wait wait wait...I thought this was just a smoke screen, and anyone who thought this was happening didn't know anything.

He be from Texas.
Played college football for the Slimers of Tulane. (I'll forgive him for that)
His Squeeze is from my hometown of Mandeville.
He's already contacted Perkins and Weeks; told them to be in maximum condition because they gonna be on the field every down.......

Mizzu paying him $2 mill/season is the most surprising thing in all of this.

After considering the offensive fire power LSU will face next year, I would prefer a more experienced DC. We need someone experienced with making halftime adjustments or in game adjustments to combat the offensive onslaught LSU will face next season.
BLAKE BAKER has never had an overall defense better than 25th in the country, and that was only once. The median for the defense’s he’s led probably in the 70th percentile. When LES was here we were consistently in the top 5 nationally. I don’t think this DC will get us back there.

Make sure you take into account the caliber of players he had to work with at Mizzou. LSU can recruit kids with far superior talent to what he had been working with previously.

I agree.
I’m halfway excited to have BB. Seems like a good coach, good fit.
But $2.5million dollars to a guy who has like one decent year as an actual DC? Little sketchy. For that much money we could have gone out and hired anybody.
It is getting a bit weird we keep hiring coaches to the highest deals of all time, and makes it more awkward when it doesn’t work out. The optics of just blindly throwing money at something doesn’t feel like we know what we’re doing as a university. They did the same thing for House and that was a dumpster fire.
Doubly bad optics too that the guy BK fired less than 2 years ago is now coming back as the highest paid DC in the country
Hoping for the best
