I guess you missed my point .. If he had anything to do with this young lady's death .. He's going to prison for the rest of his life, regardless of the draft ..

what would happen next if someone were to say nevermind, I am not talking to the police? The police stories on tv lately have freaked me out so I am not talking.

Nothing at all, IF he weren't a suspect. He isn't forced to talk, but it would sure make them dig harder into his situation.

This guy is suspected of "something" or he would have given the detectives the casual information they needed on a phone interview. They want him in person. That is enough to tell me there is some level of involvement somehow with someone important to this case.

just gotta hope this guy didn't have anything to do with it.

Just a dumb move. half his team mates have kids he should know it isn't the end of the world. especial when you're a millionaire.

So you know nothing and yet jump to a conclusion. Sounds reasonable.

Police don't do "phone interview" in a case dealing with a shooting death and no attorney with an IQ over 75 is going to allow any type interview before he has investigated the facts and has some handle on what he believes the situation to be.

Really?

If a guy kills a woman because he doesn't want to support his kid...it is a dumb move?

Wow. Killing someone is more than a dumb move.

I certainly hope that we learn he had nothing to do with this woman's murder.

The reason they needed to speak with him in person is so he can take a paternity test. He may be involved, he may not, but stop acting like them wanting to speak with him in person implies guilt.

This is the same police department that charged Jordan Jefferson with a felony for a fight in a parking lot of a bar; in which they seized 49 pair of his shoes for evidence, including the ones he had on the day of the "search & seize"! 49 pair!!! And after all were "tested" for evidence none were presented to the Grand Jury!!! Oh speaking of the Grand Jury, they said not enough evidence for a felony charge of battery. And this dragged on for how long, before he could return to the normalicy of his life? (If innocent, La'el does NOT have the luxury of time on his side.) I'm just saying!!!
There is so much sepulation... I have read articles that have stated the baby is girl, other articles state a boy, some state she was 7 months pregnant, others state 8 months.
My thoughts are if he had nothing to do with it; the timing is very unfortunate for him. And I have faith things happen for a reason & God has a plan for him.
If he is involved, geez, why??? He was about to be drafted in the first round. It is not uncommon for players to have babies out of wedlock. Pay child support, raise your child be there as a dad, & continue life.
No matter what, a life was taken! A mother taken from her kids, a daughter taken from her parents, a sister taken from her siblings, a relative taken from her loved ones, and a friend taken from ones who loved her & this is horrible! While people debate semantics on this message board a family grieves for a loved one. May The Lord watch over the family mourning the loss of the loved one & also watch over La'el Collins and his family because either way this goes they too will need your comfort, peace, & guidance.

Maybe they just want to find out who needs to step up and claim the kid.

I've heard from a couple of people I know in the NFL personnel business that the police referring to Collins as "A person of interest, and not a suspect, "Yet" is killing his value. If Collins had 100% not even the slightest involvement in this then I feel bad for him, just terrible timing.

Depending on how La'El handles this situation, I could see stock increasing over the "questioning"

He seems like a great guy and sharp...like most OL are..

We shall see. Adam Schefter said this morning on Mike & Mike that Collin's draft value had dropped significantly due to this incident and Collin's possible involvement.

His not being named a suspect really means nothing to the nfl. His stock was gonna plummet because the echoes of Rae Carruth. It sucks for him if there is no involvement.

I can promise, if he falls to 50, Rex Ryan will take a chance.

Pft just put out it's final mock draft and noted he has slid out of the 1st round and put in parentheses maybe the next 6 rounds also.
