to me it's obvious BRPD probably tried to go thru the quiet channels to contact him or his agent for a sit down chat, were stonewalled, and it leaked to the press to encourage him to get his arse home and talk to the police.
Adam Schefter released the news to the public after all 32 NFL teams received a memo for NFL Security. League Security were the first to get wind of the situation. BRPD only issued a statement after being contacted by members of the media.

Albert Breer tweets tonight that La'El has still not talked to the police. That's not ASAP behavior.
We all love him as a Tiger who was great on the field and a leader off the field. But the way he has handled this so far is either really stupid or suspicious.

Its practical and smart
Get a lawyer
Get affidavits from people who can corroborate your alibi.
And then you go in there and completely clear your name.
But this isn't law and order. ITs not done in 45 minutes.

Exactly. It's 10 pm , no shite he "still hasn't talked to the police".

I doubt he's doing anything without legal advice. Lawyers could have a reason for getting him here, talking to him first, doing their own snooping, waiting, etc.

It's not practical and smart if you're a) innocent and b) facing the loss of millions of dollar on Thursday night. He should have spoken to the police with his attorney today.

There are attorneys who think talking to the police ever is the worst idea possible regardless of guilt. Police aren't always looking for truth... they are looking for what they can prove.

He obviously rode the Amtrak from Chicago. He's probably not even in Memphis yet.

Good point on the attorney, who didn't make for the best quotes since this broken. I amend what I said about the really stupid part because the lawyer may very well be the one failing him here.

or maybe his lawyer is preparing him for questioning. I love how just because he doesn't speak with police immediately he's somehow not handling the situation correctly.

Go La'el go. We know.
I hope all of it works out for him, too.

Yea because nobody has ever been wrongfully convicted

I'm not saying he did or didn't do anything. I'm just saying that waiting one day to speak to the police doesn't tell us anything. If he doesn't by Friday then that would be more telling.

For the lawyers here, what would happen next if someone were to say nevermind, I am not talking to the police? The police stories on tv lately have freaked me out so I am not talking.

Like i said, if you want to clear your name fast. Go in there with everything you need to clear it.
Don't go in there and just say i am innocent.
The Murder happened on Friday, Sadly i really don't think there is a way for him to beat the first round unless he goes in there with everything tomorrow and then the police officially clear his name.
Posted on 4/29/15 at 11:01 pm to SammyTiger
He likely won't be cleared tomorrow. I think they know he didn't pull the trigger, but ruling out that he definitively didn't put someone else up to it will take more than a few hours, IMO.

You don't say?! It wasn't BRPD who leaked it to the media though.

So we are assuming Collins only became aware that police wanted to speak to him yesterday afternoon?
