I think the new arena was going to be done by same developer as the one Texas used on Moody Center, but the CEO was indicted last year.
I really just want to see something that is nice and beneficial to both the university and city. There is money to be made hosting non university events.

No Sir, LSU has already started a year or two ago cracking down on tailgating. Mainly if you have a parking pass and decide not to continue with your season tickets, they will cancel your parking pass as well. I know this for a fact with the people next to us with and RV that has been tailgating for years. It's a crying shame how all of this has become with MONEY HUNGRY. This is the new world we live in. I guess we can't have anything nice anymore. LOL

No. What it would mean is TAF, presumably under some guidance, would have the ability to invest outside of university to generate revenue. That way a donation isn’t just a tax write off. It would allow major donors to “invest”, potentially getting a tax write off AND additional income.
I should say I have zero insider information here. This is complete speculation on my part. I just can’t see any other scenario that makes senses. And if PE is being “reported”, that route makes way more sense to me.

He's pretty wired into the program. Maybe he was just being overly optimistic in tone but yeah, it does sound kinda dumb when you read it. Of course they're going to copy it. I can see his point though, unless teams are already scrambling to do it now they will at least have a headstart on it. Took LSU years to get sorted with NIL despite seeing what everyone else was doing.

Not saying this is the best or worst way. I think it brings a lot of outside issues to possibly pop up in year 5-7 of a fund. How does the fund recoup its investment? Does the $100m upfront generate that much more rev to offset the expected returns? Reminds me of athletes selling their media rights for upfront money a few years back..kid out of Tenner did, Adrian foster I think. That went to shite, he was fine but the investment was crap. If they want to keep up with the others, they need to invest better. Ohio state invests well, Stanford and Notre Dame have collectives for VC into start ups from students. Imagine if LSU invested in Raising Canes…no money issues. Probably a lot more of those examples. I’d probably take 3 months and bring in $100m in rev by changing systems that are dogshit they use. The PE thing isn’t new, no one did it because of the eventual repercussions of it.

That just shows how much hot nonsense 90% of the posts on this thread are. He is a douchy podcaster. The people who would theoretically be involved in something like this are multi-millionaires 100 times over. They may let Moscona tie their shoes, but that's it.

I’m not even a Louisiana resident anymore, but I do think it’s odd people have an irrational hate for Landry regarding LSU. In fact I wish he handled everything else like he did LSU. The guy has been great for the university minus the 10 commandments pr stunt.

LSU is maybe the only thing I feel like Landry has nailed. Maybe it’s just easier being on the outside looking in.
