Chad Jones won:
BCS National Title (2007)
CWS National Title (2009)
NFL Super Bowl Champion (XLVI)

while technically true, he was on their payroll, he never played a down in the NFL, so not really accurate to list it among his athletic accomplishments

The List is Top 5 LSU Athletes of all time. Get real!!

You look at the dominance in their relative sport dumbass. No one is saying Seimone would beat Shaq or Pistol 1 on 1. Also Seimone actually did compete against males and beat some pretty handedly prior to coming to LSU.

Mathieu had what cannot be taught. Still the most disruptive defensive football player I ever watched in person and that includes the guy I think was the "best" (whatever that means) college defender, ever - Derrick Thomas.

Pete Maravich is pretty much ancient history at this point. It’s not surprising a guy as young Tyrann Matthieu wouldn’t include him on his list

He needs to add himself, but Chris Jackson absolutely belongs.

I love Patrick Peterson, but I don’t know about that one. He was great, but when you were talking about the top five to ever play at LSU, you were talking about some true all time greats.

Shaq
Joe Burrow
Bob Pettit
Billy Cannon
YA Tittle
Possibly Chis Jackson …

I know some of those are old, but we’re talking about guys that were top 50 for 50 NBA and all-Pro NFL.

Skenes and Cruz could end up being all time greats.

If you want to go Women’s Side, Simone and Sylvia are amount the top all time WNBA players.

A GOAT list without Pistol Pete is no GOAT list at all.

I’d put Tyrann near the top of that list.

Pistol-knew him peripherally, not great as a person but unbelievable generational athlete record stands alone.
Cannon-met professionally, had a ducktail haircut and a pack of cigarettes under his rolled up shirt sleeve, had been a childhood hero, immensely disappointed, people forget he was recruited in Jr. High out of Brookhaven and his Dad became custodian at Istrouma then later custodian at LSU . Generational athlete, world class sprinter, shot putter, put LSU on the map. Struggled with life choices.
Joe Burrow-Thank God for Urban Myer. Record stands alone, still proving it in NFL
SHaq-excelled at BB and life

Solid list, but Burrow should be 1 no one on that list dominated like he did in 2019. I’d remove Chad jones and insert badger there

This why Chad Jones is criminally underrated as an athlete at LSU and I’m glad Mathieu recognizes it.

People talk about best athletes ever at LSU, to me one of the best true Athletes ever is Chad Jones who was an all SEC safety that goes to pros. Also pitches and closes for championship CWS baseball team with sub 2 era and also batted with a bating average over 330 in the midst of spring training at football. Just one of these would be ridiculous and he did all three.

When I see TOP 5 Athletes I do not see TOP 5 Aletetes in each sport.

Top 5 Athletes period!! That list will not ever include a female unless you are talking about Top 5 Athletes in an all female school.
