From what I read, the family wanted to do something else. My question is that if this is true why not sell the store. Tyger Gifts is a landmark and I haven't been this upset since Pancho's closed. No not that new garbage they called Pancho's on Airline, the old one on Vets.

It's hard to compete with the internet. Lots of other options that didn't exist in the 80s and 90s.

Internet and more competitors. I went there because there once was no Tigermania in Baton Rouge. Just the bookstore.

That place changed once LSU won a championship in 2003. After that, having customers was no longer a problem. I just happen to be going to N.O. this weekend, I will have to check it out.

Always bought my stuff from there... I liked them because they always kept enough normal sizes in stock. And they normally had a good kid selection too.

I've bought a few items from them online and had no problems whatsoever. Prices were on par with retail so they were not outrageous. Tigermania is still around in BR but they are now affiliated with with Lids. Too bad they closed their location on Highland near the campus.

They've gone downhill ever since Lids bought them out.

Why did they close the store outside the campus gates?

Just so long as I can still get my gear at Wal-mart.

Lids has turned into the hat monopoly. They sell way too many ridiculous novelty and ghetto styles. Why would I need a lime green Yankee cap? Give me more fit options. Twins enterprises has also changed for the worse. '47 brand hats are now cheaply made and don't fit like they used to. Tyger gifts has always been dependable and trustworthy. Good store.

Tyger Gifts was on Severn right across from JCPenney's.
Yes, Mrs. Grace was wonderful. I bought from them in store and via the internet. It was a favorite of mine. It does sadden me as it seems another genuine slice is removed. That place made adults feel like kids.

I remember picking up a NC shirt there on Jan. 5, 2004. There was a news crew reporting from the store. Nice place; too bad.

I was living in Fat City during our perfect season. Was ready to be the first in line for our national championship shirts. Ugh...

One of my favorite stores. I could literally browse the relatively small space for hours and find multiple things I "needed"

I was there too - came down from Montana for the Championship game. Got interviewed by the TV crew and made it on to the nightly news.

Sorry to hear they are closing. I have been going there since day one when they were in a small warehouse by the Harvey Canal on the west bank. These days I guess it is hard to compete with the internet and the big chains.

Hate to see them go. I have been buying from them for decades.
