I say yes, being just two years removed from a national title as well as 3 straight coaches winning a title here (2 against Saban) as well as recruiting has been strong these past few years.

We have a strong foundation and the turnaround can be quick.

I think the transfer portal can also help with a quick turnaround

Yes, because the SEC continues to get stronger. But also we've slipped relative to other jobs in the SEC.

True.

O winning a championship proves that.

You don't have to be the smartest coach at LSU to win championships. You can make a lot of mistakes (missing on key recruits, not shutting the state down talent wise, etc...) not afforded at other universities that have to have everything line up perfectly in order to win a championship.

By virtue of a recent NC, absolutely true.

Why in hell are we talking about Miles? Get over it.

10-15 years ago I would have agreed with you, but 2019 seems like an eternity ago, especially in today’s 24/7 social media driven world.

This x1000

In 2016 you could say a historically good, but not great, LSU program struck gold when it hired maybe the best HC in CFB history in Nick Saban. You could then say Miles, who had a good, but not great record at OSU, piggy-backed off of that initial success and kept the momentum going before eventually plateauing. But when a guy (Orgeron) with ZERO history of prior success and ZERO market demand among college football comes in and wins a NC then you rationally have to say "Maybe it is the PROGRAM that is the key...not just good luck in landing 3 great HC's"

Over the course of 20 years

3 different ADs
3 different HCs
3 National Titles (only Alabama has more during that period)
ONE constant...the LSU program

I don't think it's any better. It's always been one of the best jobs in America. 2019 made it more widely known.

Yes because LSU actually has QB talent on the roster.

Etling was ok but you had literally nothing behind him.

I was prepared to say same, but recently winning a Natty and having Nuss and Walker absolutely puts it at a better job now.

It’s the same. It’s an elite, top 5 or 3 job, it has been since Saban arrived, and will be until the AD and president decide to stop investing in the program. Barring some crazy dropoff in talent in the state or a random school coming into the SEC, we’ll be a top job for a very long time

This. If Walker stays committed then that is a great boost for a new coach to have the number 1 quarterback on your roster.

When Miles left we had Etling (solid but no rep) and Harris. Not sure if Narcisse and Brennan had the same allures as recruits.

And the next coach will instantly inherit one of the best WR groups in the country to go along with the QB room
