Hope he's telling the truth. If he's been falsely arrested it's a grave miscarriage of justice.

I first attest I have no idea what happened in this situation but after being on a jury in a somewhat complicated and lengthy civil trial 20 years ago I can assure you there are plenty of innocent people in prison after being in that jury room discussing the case. It was astounding the ones that didn’t listen, didn’t care and flat out didnt have the intellect to piece together coherent trains of thoughts. I have said many times in the years since that I shudder to think if that group of individuals were ever needed to decide a life in prison fate for myself. This is where legal system gets twisted with who has the cash and who doesn’t when it comes time to secure a competent legal defense team. I have no doubt if you ever find yourself in random set of events where the police are involved and you end up with inadequate legal counsel you could find yourself in a really bad situation.

I say, innocent until proven guilty is the only right answer. I hope that law enforcement and the justice system can see the need to expedite this case.

Not much to do in Farmerville and it's pretty common to see parties at apartment complexes on Friday night. Hopefully he was simply at a party where a shooting happen to occur.

I'm just waiting to find out more information before I jump to any conclusions. Need answers. Was it just one person or did several people name him as a shooter? Any footage of the incident?

All I know is that as far as denials go, that was a really strong one. Super believable.

Man, I sure hope this is true.

Probably also OK to post ‘I’m innocent’ on social media but certainly not any details.

Yep, but too many folks these days believe it's their job to prove innocence and not the state's job to prove guilt.

The Facebook version of the note ends with a hash tag “free my brother”. I assume his brother or close friend wrote it

Exactly, I haven't heard of him posting bail so the idea of him actually having access to a cell phone and social media doesn't add up.

Sure they can, but if trying to make a plea to the public when using contraband and exposing themselves to the authorities would be unbelievably dumb.

While that is true in court, it has never been true in the court of public opinion. Unfortunately, in many cases.

I hope the full truth comes out, whatever it is. I also hope it is what he says. I know it is not realistic to be able to judge a person's character by press conferences and such but he comes across as a genuinely great guy in those.

FWIW, my opinion of him is more favorable after reading this statement, and I am one of his peers, and they are the ones who will be deciding whether or not to indict him.

Seems as if Union Parish Sheriff office did.

They seem to do this a lot. Would not surprise me at all if this was a false arrest.
