2 good seasons in his career, the rest mediocre.

He has made the NCAA tournament 4 of the last 5 years (they made the NIT in the year they didn't make the tournament). That's certainly an improvement to Brady.

He has also made the Sweet 16 twice in the last five years as well.

Why do you think that? Seriously. We now have one of the top 3 paid coaches in the country in football. I don't think he have the ability to pay a BBall coach the same kind of top dollar. This is a good hire IMO, and he does have ties to Texas, as he was at Rice for years. Plus, now we have a guy with West Coast ties as well. Good all around.

i swear some you guys are morons. the guy won at Stanford and Nevada, i repeat, Stanford and Nevada!. LSU will be a consistent participant in the tourney with this guy. At least give him a chance, if he is in fact the choice. I think this is a good hire.

i think Ford or even Brey would have been better hires.

but i really dont know the official candidates. They may not even have been on the map

ETA: I dont think he is a bad coach though. Im certainly not bad mouthing him. I dont do that until i see what he puts on the court

Ok..was looking at his profile and saw only one sweet sixteen appearance...but wasnt taking into consideration this year.

So he has won 4 NCAA games with 2 sweet sixteen appearances...not too bad. I wasnt slamming the guy either...it's just that nothing really stood out for someone in their 50's.

I guess I was just hoping for a younger up and coming guy like Anthony Grant.

I do think Ill like this guy alot more than Brady..

did it sound like i was arguing to keep brady?

don't ever use those words again when refering to a coaching candidate, because that can be said about almost every coach in the country.(mike gotfried excluded)

18-13
16-14
18-13
28-8

that's one good year at stanford.

Good teams with Stanford's admissions...Must be a pretty good coach. They did a good job keeping his name quiet. I haven't heard his name once in the prospective candidates list. Seems like a good hire.

Seems like a pretty average hire..but LSU is a pretty average basketball school.

The guy also looks kinda old..was hoping for a younger coach like Grant or Ford...but again..LSU is just an average bball program.

Welcome aboard Coach Johnson..

I agree. I don't see him being a great salesman for LSU basketball. I hope he can connect with the fans, because frankly that was the main reason Brady was fired. If we just wanted a solid coach and a recruiter, we could have settled for Piere. I for one am not enthused, but I really want to be wrong.
