How many is Thompson responsible for though?

Team BA up to .368.

Team ERA will be 3.19 if Dutton can close it out in scoreless fashion.

Fontenot hitting 93 after 40 pitches. Love to see it.

Me too. I think that will be a big advantage of him being extended to compete for one of the starting roles. I was saying I think they’ll have 3-5 guys they trust at the back end that they’ll use differently each weekend. Les said he thinks they’ll settle into more traditional roles (I can’t speak to exactly what he meant, but safe to say he at least meant a designated closer).

But I think you may see some 2 and 3-inning saves by Fontenot, especially on Fridays. And then maybe come back on Sunday for high-leverage ABs/situations. Reyz will close the rest. Basically, Reyz is the closer, but if it’s a close game on Friday and Fontenot is dealing, you send him back out for the 9th even if it’s his 3rd inning. You don’t go to your “closer,” just because.

Agree on Devin. I saw him at 88-89 during last fall scrimmage weekend and was concerned.

Today showed he is fine.

How are we doing the next game, JML? Will you be starting a new thread?

I’m not sure specific rolls are defined just yet. Fontenot just went 3 innings and looked great. I think Jay is looking long relief even though Kelly said last week he was more of a closer. Maybe Reyz is the closer now? But what if we need him as the bridge?

I’m fine with Jay going with what’s working now and not being locked into a set script. Just be ready to go when your name is called and pitch as best you can as long as you can.

As of now, games 2 and 3 of series could need long relief, so we may need a couple guys to do it. Fontneot definitely can be one of those. Was hoping coleman could be another

Did y’all know that the second largest population of people getting TJ are bowlers?

I didn’t, but it definitely makes sense. I’m not sure how deep that list goes, but I’d bet arm wrestlers are up there too.
