Houma had one football player in the 90s that was a beast. Claude Johnson. Was recruited to play RB for Florida State. Broke his leg in the last game of the season and ended up playing at like mississippi valley or something like that. Last great prospect from the area I can even think of.

it's produced some solid high school baseball players over the years, consistently. I've never understood why none of them seem to wind up at LSU.

I think Dozar was from Morgan City....close enough to Houma right?

Houma/Terrebonne Parish was very under-represented on LSU rosters across all sports
For the size of the area, the fact that it is growing at a rate like it is, this statement is very true.

Had talked about this in other threads with guys and the main thing I think behind it is that there aren't a ton of great high school coaches in the area... Lafourche included, even though Thibodaux does produce. The coaching things has gotten better in the last two years IMO... just waiting for results.

I also agree with the Alexandria thought that they do not have much talent going to BR for a city/town of its size.

Springhill, As far as I know Wayne Sessions 1965-66 is the only representative in football. Although they did produce a Heisman Trophy winner in John David Crowe.

Alexandria and Natchitoches do seem underrepresented for cities that size, but so does Bossier.

Alexandria has three guys in the pros right now. Juan Pierre (baseball), Nic Jacobs (football), and a RB who went to Oklahoma. Can't remember his name off hand.

ASH and Peabody produce decent talent.

eta: but you're right about them not going to LSU. Which is weird considering how much of an "LSU town" it is.

You're thinking of Nick Harris not Nic Jacobs. Nick Harris and Chris Brown played at Oklahoma from ASH.

Also, this guy from Grant High School recently played at LSU:

The whole stretch of I-49 from Ville Platte north to Natchitoches, including Bunkie and Alexandria. There is a relatively large black population in this area as well.

Bossier City is a decent sized town with Airline, Parkway and Bossier HS. Can't think of any football players that went to LSU.
Todd Walker is the obvious name in baseball.
David Toms the obvious name in golf.

CenLa definitely produces the least amount of talent anywhere in the state. That is true.

The last kid who was worth a shite from Alexandria was Chris Brown. He was the same year as Keiland and Charles Scott so we didn't take him. He played at OU and did well.

Don't think Chris Brown is in the NFL any longer. He played on the Broncos practice squad for a sec.
