Baker has the look people want as the DC or coach we just aren’t getting the stops a great D Coordinator starts having around year 2-3 with highly paid players at that.
Don’t give me we have players that are hurt BS, everyone has more than one players for each position and they were highly skilled coming out of HS and other colleges or they wouldn’t be here.
It’s a coaches job to makes sure “next man up” means exactly that.
That last play for the 2 point conversion was something that is gonna take some games and time to get over.
Totally discombobulated and we should be better prepared considering how much we are paying Baker.

Not gonna lie, for takes that required 36 hours to formulate, I kind of expected better

Idk bro, my optimism will be fully in tact if we finish 5-1. Momentum is a thing.
A lot easier to write off two competitive road losses with a strong finish.

It didn’t. It took me that long after the game to be able to think reasonably about football.
It’s afternoon on a workday & a leg day. This took me 5 minutes
I’m flattered you had high expectations tho

Ah what? So next guy behind Green, Geralds, and Princewell are just as good or better?

Re Baker and the defense. What stuck out to me the most was we came out first half and tackled awful, then tackled much better second half. That’s an indictment of both the players and the coach to not be ready on the road in the SEC.

9-3 is going to be equivalent to 6-6 (outside looking in)
This is legitimately stupid.
We are now playing a ridiculous 9 game SEC schedule (plus a major OOC opener), so 9-3 is actually much more like a traditional 10-2 season than a 6-6 season lol.
Like do people just pretend an extra conference game isn’t a big deal?
Regardless solid post OP. Congrats on being one of the functional adults that doesn’t bleed all over the internet like a teenage girl when your favorite sports team loses a game

This is just stupid. Baker adjusted and the defense played a hell of a second half up until we punted on the 4th and 1. Kiffin said in his presser he wanted to play soft just like he wanted to in the first half of Ole Miss. Baker has to listen to his boss. The fact is the defense gave up 6 points in the second half. The punt return and the inability of the offense to finish the game off twice is what lost it. I get what people are trying to do is find a scapegoat that’s not Kiffin but there doesn’t need to be a scapegoat. We lost a road SEC that we choked away. Kiffin is still the guy I promise you he still feels like Baker is an elite DC.

People talk about parity and the leveling effects of the portal and NIL and then still spout this bullshite as if it means something. The drop-off between the 2 deep and below hasn’t been this significant at power programs for 40 years.
The days of stacking talent are OVER. Recruiting is now about better identifying players with talent who fit your scheme and culture and not taking major risks. Then you retain everyone you want who will stay, let the ones who don’t develop fast enough move on, and replace them, some via recruiting, some via the portal.
If you have great talent sitting on the bench, then they have little to no experience like Anderson and Brown. Otherwise, you have some jags who are good enough to hang around 3rd team and below, but who aren’t SEC difference makers being paid by someone else to leave. There are no more Bama and UGA with 5 and high 4 Stars down the 4 deep. That is gone forever.
And those 3rd team jags? They are in your 2-deep the moment someone goes down. This is reality. We are not going to fricking plug and play replace Weeks, Green, Spears and Reliford. We are close to as good at only ONE of those four positions because Thomas has developed and played well. There has been a noticeable drop-off at the other three positions.
You can spout platitudes that made sense 10 years ago, but they will do nothing to change this reality.

I think LK is still adjusting to expectations at LSU. He hasn’t seen this since his time at Alabama as a coordinator.
Personally, I think his desire to mix the atmosphere of USC with the discipline seen at his time as Alabama isn’t going to work.

CLK is just this year’s news cycle. Last year it was Cignetti. Next year it will be somebody else. Things will calm down

The 2011 title game felt like the nail in Les Miles’ coffin & it was.
That’s quite the nail considering he coached here 5 years after that game.
He was Bama’s bitch from that point on, so yeah, that was the nail. Either that or the 2012 defeat to Bama.

The game vs Kentucky reminded me a lot of the 2018 7OT loss to Texas A&M.
I had the same bad feeling in the 4th quarter for both games. Nothing went right, we were clearly the better team. Questionable calls, basically everything went the other team's way to keep them in the game. Sickening. That's what also happened at Kentucky last Saturday.
The 7OT game was in Joe Burrow's 1st year at LSU. He balled out-3 rushing and 3 passing TDs, zero turnovers.
In both games, when the opponent got it into overtime, I felt like we had already lost. You could sense that on the sideline too. It's a mindset that's very un-process-like. It's coaching.

Kiffin does seem to be out of sorts in terms of body language etc
Has he always used his hands so much when he talks. Only other person you regularly see that from is Saban.
Maybe I just noticed it once LK was hired but he uses his hands to talk often

Not just one game in isolation, he is stacking bad performances at this point.
Yes, Cease & Desist with the soft arse zone BS.
Poontang Defense.
NOT LSU type of Defense.
This "Third and Baker" (Take off of "Third and Chavis") nonsense wont cut it here at the ULSU!
Let's see if BB will do what's right or will he do his Matt House impersonation by being ego dominated stubborn and refusing to change or make adjustments?
This and the annual/continuing lack of SEC Championship/CFP caliber OL's are my only real serious concerns about this program. (Seaton and Moore are the only two OL's that that should be starting)
Kiffin and Glasscock didn't bring in anything but OL jack shite garbage (Outside of Seaton) in the portal either and that has to change moving forward.

No one said that but suggesting that we don’t have quality replacements is silly and letting the coach of the hook of doing his job and that’s preparing every player to be ready to compete at the highest level.
Let me ask since we are here, did Saban magically avoid injuries during his 14 years at Bama, or did he magically figure out how to find coaches prepared to coach every man up?
This is how you become a great team and not just good with your starters.

You are here suggesting that coaching means nothing now, and that is flat out ridiculous.
