Brian Kelly took a football roster with 37 scholarship players to a team that won 10 games in year one. Football is a much harder sport to rebuild a roster than basketball.

There are no excuses. Woody missed on the mens basketball hire, and it’s disappointing considering his WBB, baseball, and football hires.

Mulkey, JJ and BK were objectively great hires. McMahon clearly wasn’t.

It’s not as easy to convince kids to come play basketball at LSU compared to football. Do you even pay attention?

Brian Kelly was one of the very best coaches of this era before he ever came to town. Weird standard to hold McMahon to

You got to give him at least 3 years and depending on the possible sanctions maybe 5 years. LSU has always struggled in men’s B ball except for a few years under Brown, Brady and when Wade was paying recruits out of his and his wife’s bank account. Men’s basketball is a total different beast than the other sports you mentioned. It’s been a half of a season that’s not enough time to make a judgement on a hire. Am I impressed so far, no I am not but you got to give him time to turn it around. His resume says he will be successful.

CMM will get 4 seasons to put his program together. This is MM first bigtime HC position unlike when SW hired Kelly, Johnson, and Mulkey.

Haven’t read any response to your world class post. Instead I will answer. There are many, many reasons to let a 1st year coach taking over an all but decided (BLANK) team, have a little more than a few conf games to get his shite together. I shouldn’t have to explain this. When the season is over and we can actually count wins and losses you can either come back here and tell everyone how smart you were for your predication or admit you are world class stupid as frick and start shitting in your hand and throwing it at everyone.

Let’s be honest you couldn’t ever admit you were wrong

Every other program was in better shape than MBB. They practically had no one left when CMM took over. No one.

What big hire coach would’ve came to lsu that’s about to get hit with penalties? LSU has very little basketball history. No big name coach would come to lsu under the current circumstances

A better comparison is John Brady taking over a program in 1997 which was under draconian NCAA sanctions. Much like McMahon he was forced to cobble a roster together with only a short time to recruit after being hired. There were a couple of lean years with only one legitimate star player in Maurice Carter. In his third year Brady won the SEC with Stromile Swift and Jabari Smith leading the way. They lost to Wisconsin in the Sweet 16. Brady had some up and down years as early departures for the NBA thwarted consistent success. He did have two SEC titles, 3 SEC West Championships and a Final Four and a Sweet 16 in a 7 year span. MCmahon is a solid coach and will be able to legally recruit with NIL funding and the program will begin to steadily rise as the talent level increases.

Kelly also had All American players already on roster. There was no one on the roster for basketball. Dumb post

Football and baseball at LSU are considered top programs in the nation, so talent wants to play for those programs. WBB, well, Mulkey is a legend and girls want to play for her, so it’s easy for her to amass talent. MBB isn’t in the conversation when it comes to top BB programs whether people want to think so or not. So, getting top talent is a lot harder to get versus the other programs. That being said, I disagree with you that there are no excuses and I expect MM to have a formidable team in a couple years.

LSU had about 56 returning scholarship players before you add in the waiting freshman class that was already recruited and committed. This lie that we only had 37 scholarship players is so overdone that only idiots use it.

McMahon had zero players on the roster and zero players committed at a time when most of the freshman class was already signed.

Can we at least let the man finish a whole season before saying this. This is the equivalent to people saying Kelly was a failed hire after the Florida State game.

It does need recruiting but if you have noticed that has been crickets. That is the concern, losing on the court is whatever this year. We need recruits and it’s a legit concern that MM isn’t going to brawl with the dick bags like Pearl, Cal, Muss, and Oats.

This is the truth. There was only 37 for the bowl game, which included a plethora of suspensions and injuries.

The inherited roster of 37 is fake news.

This statement is so flawed but because this is the hill you want to die on, there is no point arguing. Just know that this is wrong...so so wrong, especially at LSU.

this is MM most talented roster with miller, KJ, justice, Hayes, Wilkerson, fountain, Coleman. hill. MM is messing up by playing hill so much. Dude isn't the shooter we thought, and turns the ball over so much. We are a better team with him on the bench and Hayes playing. The stats prove this but MM feels like he has to play hill a lot for some reason
