It’s nothing like that

Jayden is the problem since he couldn't get anyone else involved until the end of the game. It is like your point guard finishing with 40 points and 2 assists.
Funny how him improved once they provided him with a little protection
200 yards passing and 100 plus running how dare him

A much more honest assessment would be that he played an average game.
What he did well - pick up yards with his legs, lead what could have been a game winning drive under pressure, made three great throws (2 to Boutte that were dropped and 1 to Jenkins)
What he did poorly - make one read and run (except pass to Jenkins where the game was on the line), no pocket awareness, throws to the runnings backs need more touch, doesn’t throw with anticipation or recognize the blitz pre-snap
He’s a solid QB and by now means was he the problem Sunday night. He just didn’t do enough to win. Our only real advantage is at WR so we have to get these players involved early. Yes Boutte dropped a TD pass but Jayden also missed wide open receivers because he doesn’t get past his first read an panics quickly. If he could learn pocket awareness and keep his eyes down the field when he scrambles then he could be dangerous. Just not sure if that will happen this year. No one hates Jayden though. That’s just dumb.

He held the ball longer than any QB in our league this week so this narrative that he ran for his life all night is false. If you have time to hold the ball longer than anyone else in the pocket you’re not running for your life all night. We called 55 pass plays, did he get pressured on some plays, of course but that’s gonna happen when you drop back 80% of the time.

Exactly. This notion that the QB should have 4 seconds to throw each down is just stupid. People need to go back and watch how quickly Burrow got rid of the ball and how often he maneuvered in the pocket or rolled to buy himself time. Jayden doesn’t see the field and can’t anticipate what the defense will do. Being fast and having a strong arm are only half the equation.

If you rewatch the game you will see many plays where there was an open receiver but instead of standing in the pocket to deliver the pass he took off. I realize he is not Burrow but he needs to do better.

A lot of uncovered guys in the slot to his right all night long. Bech on a seam, Bech on a 10 yard out where nobody covered him. Nabors on a couple inside slants and drags totally uncovered. I watched 6 of Daniels games this summer from ASU, he doesn’t like to throw between the hashes, a lot of times he doesn’t even look there and he did that Sunday night.

At the end where he racked up his yards look where he threw it. Soft coverage gave him the sidelines to 10 yards or so. That’s where he likes to go with the ball. The one big play over the middle to Taylor had 1 LB covering the entire field with 6 guys playing 30 yards deep.

NINE different players had a reception in the game. Five of those guys had at least 5 targets each. He hit Jenkins for 2 TDs. He LITERALLY hit Boutte for what could/should have been a 3rd. How much more should he have gotten others involved?

Who the hell down votes this. It's literally 100% facts.

55 passes called 209 yards passing. 26 completions for 209, 7.1 ypc ranked 9th in the SEC, his yards per attempt didn’t rank in the top 11. I don’t blame JD, the game plan was awful, that’s not how you use a guy with his skill set.

It's almost as if these people will dislike Jayden no matter how well he does. Gee, I wonder why...

You really think the tRant can handle that many numbers and math?

I’m not knocking him at all. He was more than serviceable.
The eyes don’t lie and he ran first a ton not letting plays develop after the e first read or they to throw someone open. That is on him and not the OC. Even Kelly said it in his presser today until the end of Q3 and Q4. I saw him take sacks holding onto the ball even the last (or second to last) drive.
He doesn’t throw people open with comes with timing and learning the offense.
There were 9 men in the box with a corner blitz. He didn’t count the corner or check to the hot route or call a TO in the first half. He got sacked. That is a learning the offense and understanding timing ie not trying to escape to make a play downfield.

What you should be wondering is why did we call 55 pass plays for a QB who’s an exceptional runner and below average passer.

How "soft" was the coverage when he threw the touchdown pass (clutch) with one second left?

I'm happy to see this non-biased rating based on the man's in-game performance and nothing else.
There's been so much belly-aching since Sunday night over Jayden Daniels. In reality he came through admirably given the bad snaps, the dropped passes and offensive line miscues. He's a baller and it showed up in the final statistical tally.
