10 am gives people time to drive home.. if there isn’t a hotel to stay at, then its just not safe driving home a few hours after a night game and get home at 1-2 am. I used to watch my dads head bob as a child. Then I did same thing after Mcneese game

It's a combination of things.

- Covid protocols
- Looking so poorly early on
- Playing McNeese and CMU
- Ida destroying people's property/causing a lack of hotel rooms

I think you've hit the primary factors. I would add:
- The Admin's wokeism (I will not support LSU financially until these are explicitly reversed?
- Ed's shenanigans (most recently at UCLA)

Some people want to send a message to LSU. I don’t know what percentage of the no shows are, but some people will not attend as long as they have checks.

I get that and I’m not expecting every seat to be filled, but 80-90k for an 8pm kick-off would be a huge upgrade over the last 2 weeks

I guarantee you there are people that fall into each and every one of these categories as to why they didn't go. We can't sit here and say its one particular thing for every person, because it's not.

I agree with this because all the people I saw at the game were enjoying themselves immensely and everything was pretty much normal.

As for covid protocols, I saw two people with masks all day long and had no issue getting into stadium.

Yea as someone mentioned earlier in this thread, there is a bit of revisionist history because first of all I was at that morning game and while there were certainly more fans than the first two games of this year, that stadium in 2008 was absolutely NOT full (though maybe a technical sellout). It's on YouTube; you can see for yourself. But the biggest point to make is that the game was BEFORE the storm. No one had any damage yet.

"people that don't like the requirements for entrypeople that don't like the requirements for entry"

Yeah.... stop the requirements... stop vacations... COVID isn't really a thing, so stand up and throw those masks in the trash!!!! Let's all gather together and watch teenagers play football and if COVID gets us, it's ok.... because we made a choice.

You should also stop paying your taxes until voter ID is no longer required. Since it’s the same principle.

There's many issues and this has been happening and getting worse for a long time

In no particular order:

1) Crappy opponents
2) Hassles of traffic and increasing cost of game parking
3) Worsening tailgating atmosphere
4) Terrible concessions / in-stadium experience
5) Lack of positive energy about program
6) Ida causing damage to property
7) Ida causing lack of hotel rooms in area, meaning out of towners can't come in for game
8) COVID restrictions - people gonna show the university by not showing up
9) "Wokeness" - see #8
10) Business owners having to work because of staffing issues - can't take off for the day to go to game

That's 10 different issues.

And you get downvoted for stating your position. I agree. It pains me that this is going on and I would have ABSOLUTELY attended these two games and the UCLA game (pheww glad I didnt) if it were not for the woke stance as well as vaccine BS. My kids, regardless of TOPS, will not be attending LSU (yes I’m an LSU grad).

You can’t even name this “wokeness” you claim is going on.

The entry requirements, as currently constituted, do nothing to keep people safe from catching Covid outside of pissing some people off enough to not want to go

Our attendance so far boils down to two main things playing off one another:

-cupcake opponents
-season-opening loss to UCLA

No. I know quite a few local Baton Rouge fans who simply are not going to go “show papers” to go to the game. LSU better understand they are in a perilous position here with a large portion of their fan base.

If LSU wants to play Woke arse games then they are alienating many fans who will not buy tickets or support LSU under these circumstances. LSU has a very conservative fan base who are not going to have some new Woke LSU President align himself with out pathetic Governor and tell them what they have to do to spend their money on crap they do not support.

No other SEC school has the idiotic requirements LSU has for entry. Look at Penn State, Florida, or any televised game and the stands were full with no mask or 72 hour negative test requirement.

LSU Administration better realize who supports this school fast.

People that typically only get excited when we are good were ruined by a shitty 2020 season and starting out 0-1. You want those fans back you better win some bigger games and offer a better product. You got some people who have to rebuild their house for the 2nd time in 5 years. You want them to spend $100 per ticket plus $50-100 for shitty food to feed their family. Plus terrible parking and traffic and the cost of a hotel possibly or cost of a babysitter for an all day event. All that money to watch TDP carry 10 times for 11 yards. The past 12 months have been the worst LSU product on the field overall since 1999. So naturally attendance will follow that same trajectory. People who love LSU and go to every game are still there. It’s that next tier of fans you have to persuade. A $500 Saturday for a family of 4 is easier to sell when you have a quality product. But when you can watch all games for free from the house while drinking with friends all day it’s probably not a tough decision. Factor in all the fans from out of town who are struggling to find a hotel room or reason to travel when everyone hates the coach and you have your answer why attendance is lower.

Nice strawman...which is usually a hallmark of a pathetic counterargument. No one in here is saying stop the vaccines. No one in here is saying covid isn't "real." They are simply saying the restrictions are ridiculous for a number of reasons. Not the least of which is that it doesn't really "protect" anyone all that much given the fact that the overwhelming majority of schools have had no restrictions for the last few weeks without issue. More than that, LSU doesn't even diligently enforce their own needless restrictions.

Many people are willing to just accept that reality. If you deem the risk to great to attend the game without these restrictions then stay home. That's a perfectly reasonable decision. But if you need this "illusion of protection" to attend then you are hopelessly misguided because having these restrictions is doing very little to "prevent the spread"

Let's see what happens for the first SEC game before we get all upset. There has been a trend of attendance going down. I'm not a season ticket holder so not my place to really comment.

Guess you haven’t been down da bayou since the storm. People’s businesses, homes, possessions are completely wiped out. I’m talking entire communities w/ nothing left. Tons of those same families were butts in the seats come Saturday Night too.

The LSU Equipment Rigs are still making early week runs to Cutoff and Chauvin with supplies. There are a multitude of families still with nothing.

GTFOOH - You really need to get a grip on reality.

Yet you want the players and coaches to jump through hoops for you.

Tulane needs some fans go support them
