So many people here have not coached or played sports Our talent has been so so pathetic. I am not saying McMahon is a good coach, but once Reed went down we never had a prayer in Hell to get to the postseason

With Reed we may have won, what, 1-2 more sec games?

To be that angry that hypocritical and that dishonest, something is off. Like it’s an act.

As a man that has been in leadership positions for a very long time, I understand that things are not always as they appear. I am NOT a MM fan, but I also realize that LSU has not supported him the way other SEC teams have supported their coach. He has been successful before, in the NCAA tourney and I believe is a good x and o coach. Unfortunately today's game is about jimmy and joe. I put myself in his shoes, and I would be pissed that I haven't gotten the support in terms of NIL. I don't care what you say, if you are getting outspent 4-1 on NIL by almost the entire conference, John Wooden isn't winning. If MM was fired tomorrow I wouldn't care. Today's game is about $$...which sucks. Yes, I'm an old man 58, but I also have a brain to be objective and understand there is ALWAYS more than meets the eye. I haven't seen any poster on here that is a staunch MM defender, but rather objectively realizes that he hasn't been playing on an even playing field. Now, come on back with your bs response, followed by madpunk saying I, or anyone that disagrees, just doesn't understand basketball. I don't live close anymore, but I used to have season tickets from the late 80s for about 10 years, so I got to experience the fun years. You guys worship a guy that has never coached in a sweet 16 game (I could be wrong not looking it up). Have a good day, I have work to do.

I would think a leader such as yourself would be alarmed at the leadership problems surrounding the LSU men’s basketball program. Surely a leader like yourself would understand this program has more problems than NIL. Interesting alpha take.

This guy still can’t inspire and motivate his players, and has proven to be less than average in the player development space….he knows some X’s and O’s but so do all college coaches.

What sets the coaches apart at this level are the aforementioned skills as a motivator and player developer, and he is deficient in both….he will be fired next year or the year after, guaranteed

I would venture to say that between football and basketball, its clear scott and our athletic dept in general wayyyyy under estimated the impact of NIL. They thought placing an ad in times square to show they were embracing it was enough.

Meanwhile, scott was still operating under the old ways of doing things, allocating most of the money to coaching salaries and facilities. By the time we realized the ground had shifted under us we were wayyyy behind in getting our collectives going.

Had we understood the shift in dynamics between the portal and paying players, you don't give an unproven coach like MM 7 fricking years, even had the NCAA slammed us that's just stupid. The mid major coach flop rate is pretty high, if MM balked then move onto the next, nothing on his resume screamed we needed to be aggressive.

Scott and LSU are willing to take the heat with this NIL bullshite, but its really a collection of failures that have us stuck in this position they should admit to.

Remember when Hanagriff left radio to go to a company that was all about the misreading of NIL? That bad idea was no doubt because they got the misread of NIL from LSU.

“I think it’s very realistic,” McMahon said when asked if he could be in the NCAA Tournament next season.

What a timid, weak response. I remember in Wade’s introductory press conference he flat out said that he was looking to add to our Final Four appearances number. That was very encouraging to hear at the time and we were well on our way to that imo.

This “I think it’s very realistic” answer inspires no one. But hey, McMahon is such an ace recruiter right? Since he has more money now, I expect him to land Donovan Dent now. Good luck, Matt!

That would back them into a corner so in 12 months they can't pass off a winning record and accepting the NIT bid as clear progress indicating he's worth a 5th season.
