I hope it turns out he’s a great coach and it truly was LSU being completely incompetent with allocating NIL money to basketball, this program doesn’t need a total overhaul and I’d like to win now. Do I actually believe that to be the case? No jim I do not
Here’s the thing.
None of this looks good on Scott.
Either
1. he sucks at hiring and gave a contract that was way too long.
2. He is too prideful to do what must be done and admit his mistake
3. Was caught so flat footed and lacking of foresight on fundraising and NIL that we were underfunding the only other program in the AD that makes money by MULTIPLE MILLIONS of dollars
IF this works then I will issue a big apology to Matt because he is bearing the brunt of an incompetent AD

It’s obvious & public knowledge that LSU has been behind everyone from the jump regarding NIL. Same for football
quote:
“We are frontloading at a level where we are trying to get to or above $13 million,” Kelly told Yahoo Sports last month in an interview from his office. A portion of that $13 was used to support last season’s team. LSU expects to frontload roughly $10 million of it before July 1 for members of the 2025 roster.
The $13 million is more than the collective distributed the past three football rosters combined: $5.5 million last year, about $4 million in 2023 and $2 million in 2022.

What did Vanderbilt spend on its roster this season, and how many of their transfers came from the “significantly elite pools” mentioned in this puff piece?

So why is Woodward still employed?
Funding athletics and ensuring their competitiveness is quite literally his job.

Unfortunately, $8 million still won't teach his ole sling blade simple jack arse how to coach and develop players.
Bro it's sports and a game. Fine if you don't personally like the man but damn, ole sling blade simple jack arse? Really?

First time here? I’ve heard way worse.

Everybody buys a team these days. But LSU will have to pay more because we aren't a basketball school. Remember I am saying that only in the context of the last four years. That's about as far as most players memories go.
There is no way in hell or heaven that McMahon can get the best players out of the portal no matter how much we pay. Any team that made the tournament this year will look much more appealing and if the money is good then why should they go with us for a little more?
It's like those videos on Pete Maravich that say he wanted to go to a good basketball school but his father threatened to kick him out of the house if he didn't come to LSU with him and finally had to buy him a car to close the deal. And that was his FATHER recruiting him.

McMahon and the Tigers are going to shock the world in 2026. We can't wait!

At least he didn't say something stupid like "i got receipts"

Him ever being fired up is a stretch

Mac's problem isn't about $$ per se, but his ability to evaluate the capabilities of the players he gives the money to. He has a small school mentality, lucked out with one great player, and basically became our MBB version of Hallman. I think LSU is just delaying the inevitable.

This Tiger Rag propaganda would make Baghdad Bob blush.

So many people here have not coached or played sports
Our talent has been so so pathetic. I am not saying McMahon is a good coach, but once Reed went down we never had a prayer in Hell to get to the postseason. We haven’t been allowed to get talent
Hopefully we did increase the budget, he gets the right guys, and we do significantly better. He will 10000% be gone if we don’t get to the tourney next year. So why don’t we just wait and see. It boggles my mind that majority of this fanbase actively root for us to lose. No one admits it, but look around…

You gotta love McMahon being hesitant to guarantee LSU is going to make the NCAA in year 4 while Pear is out here guns blazing and telling the pack they’re going to win immediately
^^^^^^^^^^
This is the problem. The guys that win at this level have a certain competitive edge and aggression. McMahon simply does not have it. He seems like a great person, but he does not have the personality it takes to win at this level, especially at a school where basketball has to fight for resources.
