Saw him in the gym armory one day playing with some other players. Dunked the basketball from a flat footed start ... ridiculous power in those legs.

I used to play with him at the Field House. I can vouch for this.

I don't know how to explain it, but Dalton would run from side to side while running forward. He had a shiftiness that was so smooth and he just seemed to freeze tacklers in the hole as he would go by them. He was so strong that tacklers couldn't arm tackle him and he was so shifty that they couldn't get a direct hit.

You could tell Dalton was going to be very special from his very first carry on the first play of his first game. He picked up a first down, and all of the naysayers who thought Garry James should be starting, shut up.

One of the greatest cutback runners of alltime in the SEC and the best duel threat back LSU has ever had.

Only other players I can remember that could do this was barry Sanders.

He and Guice were a lot alike in terms of balance. Dalton inflicted pain on LBs and DBs

He's in my restaurant about every other day. I wouldn't want to tackle him now let alone then

Had the biggest thighs in the world, LSU and Saints had to special order pants. Also could dunk at 5’7”, and won the leg press in the Saints weight room....

If not for Dalton, Eric Martin might never have been the star he turned out to be.

Same reason Toefield and Jeremy Hill don't get mentioned. Just too many great backs they have to have really done something special.
Hell Toefield held the record for Tds in a season til LF7.

Definitely a top 10 LSU back. But you are not the only one who didn’t see him. Much less college games on TV back then. Those who saw him a lot, only saw him in tiger Stadium.

I’m always gonna put Kevin Faulk at the top of my list. Versatility and a four year career. Plus he was the team for more than one season. All Eyez on 3
