Damn. He looked like that only down 1 run?!?

Old man has to go. He hasn't the interest level, energy or desire to do his fricking job any more.

Did he make it to the CWS more than once?

only once.
but that matches every other ND coach es’ total number of CWS appearances. combined.

Just “getting in” the Regionals isn’t that great of a feat, imo.

is that why they’ve only been to regionals once since he left?

the only ND coach with more wins there than him was there 30 more seasons than Paul was.
30 years to get like 20 more career wins (and 200 more career losses).

That’s a defeated coach searching for answers.

There are no answers. It's only going to get worse.

Y’all are so far out of the loop. If you think it’s Woodward who’s calling the shots with the baseball program I don’t know what to tell you. NOTHING happpens with the baseball program without the blessing and approval of Stanley ‘Skip’ Bertman. Period. End of discussion.

Aside from 2009, with a pumped up roster, what has he really done?

Active wins leader in ncaa baseball. Im not saying he is doing a good job currently. But its crazy to act like he hasnt accomplished much in his career

I like Paul Manieri. He won a national championship for us. But his time here has gotten stale. I am afraid it is time for a change.

Story sounds familiar. Really hope the same prolonged scenario doesn't repeat itself.

Ronnie Rantz was specifically asked about Mainieri’s body language and he said Paul is the same as he’s always been for the last 15 years!

Ask yourself this, prior to LSU, what did Paul do at Notre Dame, or wherever, that made him an elite coach?

Paul Mainieri was an elite coach. There is no question about this. Just because he is declining does not cancel what he has done.

I mean he’s been pretty good up until 17’. I think the tough loss in that championship game took a lot out of him.

You listen to Chris Reid talk about the type of coach he is. His motivational tactics. His discipline. These were all strong traits of great coaches of yesteryear.

New wave coaches instill the same principles, just in different ways. You have to adapt to that with the way kids are being raised these days.

If you are not a players coach, which I don’t consider PM, you risk losing the team when things go bad. “Ok, we suck, our coach is a dickhead old man, why are we here?”

On top of all that, up until this current freshmen class, they have absolutely bombed in recruiting 17-18-19 by LSU standards.

Member a few years ago when there were NO lefties on the pitching staff?

I mean these are all obvious signs of decline.

What is it about this board and trying to tear down previous accomplishments when a coach is at the end of his rope? It is probably time for Paul to go but he was a very very good coach for a long time
