Eh I like that it gives me a team to root for when mine isn't in it. It adds national rooting interest to the playoff. But there does need to be some qualifications for a G5 to get in. Require them to have at least one power 4 win, be undefeated, or maybe both to qualify. But as a reminder: Tulane did beat the ACC champ

So by your logic, since Tennessee got blown out in the 1st round last year 42-17, the SEC didn’t deserve to have three teams in the college football playoff?

The biggest whiners about missing this years playoffs are Notre Dame and Texas, which are programs that expect “special” treatment. Give Clark Lea credit, he admits his team had the chance to get it done on the field, and didn’t.

You can’t believe that line of thinking. Obviously Tennessee played a legitimate schedule to earn their spot.

The committee itself is woke and ignorant. Leaving out Notre Dame and Vanderbilt was nuts. We've waited decades for playoffs and we have an incompetent committee pairing these teams? One step forward. Two steps back.

College football should be ashamed to put this product on national tv. Give the group of 5 their own playoff and let the big boys battle it out.

You or me would be shitcanned for these decisions. Anyone have a link to the committee?

Remember when LSU put 49 on Oklahoma in one half in the playoff? Remember when Tulane beat USC and Boise beat several P5 teams? Every year is different, can’t say they never deserve a chance. The year TCU got blown out by UGA, they beat Big 10 champ Michigan in the semis.

i think part of the reason for G5 slots is to prevent anti-trust lawsuits.

Before long, the football playoff bracket will look like the college basketball playoff bracket.

I love that the smaller teams get a shot. Let's face it, there's more parity in college football than ever before, so yes, a smaller school could possibly pull off an upset. Under your thinking, we might as well just let the 12 schools with the highest NIL funds participate and everybody else should eliminate football all together.

Leaving them out for a 2 loss 20th Tulane team and a 24th ranked James Madison team is the travesty. Think how much better Notre Dame - Ole Miss and Vandy - Oregon games would have been.

Wrong, there are too many DEI teams, 2 and there should be 0.

When the B10 lost games by lopsided scores no one was trying to ban it. (Bama 30, MSU 0; Clemson 31, Ohio St 0; FL 41, Ohio St 14). P5 lacks the quality talent and resources, but may field a competitive team in a given year. Ban - No. Tweak - Yes. Make P5 representative finish in top 15 of CFP final poll with minimum of two or three P4 victories to secure auto bid.

We already knew that. What the hell is wrong with this playoff selection committee? Rules need to change. Unfair to other playoff teams where Ole Miss and Oregon get a cupcake “playoff “ game.

Agreed. Nothing against JMU or Tulane, really, but the best 12 teams were not selected.
