JarMarcus made great plays but he was also a turnover machine at the same time. Dude was not very smart. I

Back to the OP, to compare JaMarcus to Jayden you would need to consider:
a) Russell left early. His draft stock was maxed out. So to compare the two head-to-head, you would want to compare JaMarcus '06 with Jayden's '22.
b) Being picked #1 overall is an award in itself not too far removed. Even if he was an NFL bust, I'm glad for him and LSU that he went #1 overall. I don't think anyone was suggesting Jayden would be picked #1 overall after '22.
c) IMO, our offense has been tailored specifically around Jayden's skill set. JaMarcus never had that. We did become more pass friendly as '06 progressed.
d) JaMarcus' ability to improvise is being downplayed. He was a big guy and not easily sacked. And he could make any throw out there.
e) Had Russell returned in '07 with Crowton as OC and our WR corps, then just dream.
My hopes are win out and wit it all. And if we do, then Jayden will win the Heisman deservedly so. After the season ends, not before, can you say Jayden is better than JaMarcus.

He was against UF. 2 ints in '04, 4 in '05, and 3 in '06 (methinks).

There actually is an argument. It may be that JD is the best QB in LSU history in a dead heat with JB.
I have watched LSU football for a long time and JD and JB are in a class by themselves. They have separated themselves from the rest and by a good margin. JB is certainly the most "successful" modern QB and he got the most national recognition. I would argue that JD has done as more with less and that's less everything, including recognition
JB came to a program that was only a QB away from being a national contender. There was a different atmosphere in BR and more talent in 2018-2019. The starting schedule was (way) weaker and that let the team gel before hitting the SEC schedule. JB came through as a leader and winner.
JD came to a program in disarray with a new staff and a team of transfers and unknown quantities. The front end of the schedule was tough and only got tougher.
Morale was questionable and the fan base anything but on his side as an artificial "controversy" dogged him even at the start of this season. It was BS but it was there. JB had the fans behind him from the start; JD, not so much.
As far as skill sets go, JB probably a better pocket passer. JD def a better scrambler/runner. One set of skills will serve you better than another depending on the team and the league.
I say you can argue for either one but to me, it's a dead heat.

Didn't read any responses, but Bert Jones was by far and away the most talented LSU QB not named Joe Burrow. Jones played for a shitty team in a loaded conference in the NFL. He had a better arm and was more athletic than Burrow. It's no knock on Burrow for you youngsters, but Jones was a beast. I'll go as far as saying he was better than Bradshaw, he just didn't get to play with 10 hall of famers on his team. All props to Burrow !

Hodson is the best freshman QB I ever saw but he did regress some as he went on. Didn't get to see Bert Jones so can't comment there but in the new age of RPO offense JD is as good as it gets. I've been watching LSU since 1977 and I will say in my opinion if JD keeps this up he will be #2 in my book. We have never had a QB that could run and throw like him. He is literally in a class by himself. From a read and react viewpoint Burrow was the best I've ever seen. JD is starting to show that ability and if he continues there may be an argument for 1a and 1b. With a better defense he would be in the NC running and a high Heisman candidate. That is a fact.

Hodson, in his LSU career, had one receiver equal in talent as the 9 starters on 06, 19 and 23 teams.
Non of his receivers with the exception of Wendell Davis could have played on those teams. Davis went to the NFL and Hodson's stats dropped. Running Back, Eddie Fuller, was probably his most reliable receiver, Hodson's last year.

Joe had a lot more talent around him
on defense, sure
On offense? I’m not so sure but time will tell

Burrow played with 1st rd picks at WR (2) and RB, his #3 WR was drafted in the 2nd rd, and his O Line was voted the top line in college. Those 2 WRs are arguably the top 2 in the NFL right now.
Daniels MIGHT have more talent at the tackles (Campbell, Jones, Heard). Nabers MIGHT sneak into the 1st round, but Thomas and Diggs aren't, and Lacy ain't going 2nd rd.

Bert and Ro. Bert won NFL MVP against guys like Staubach, Bradshaw, and Tarkenton. He had a good running game at Baltimore.
Hodson also had Moss and Magee, damn good receivers.
Ro would have similar numbers in these offenses. He had great receivers.

Joe Burrow was not Dual-threat? Rushed for nearly 100 yards vs Alabama in ' 19 & Rushed for 100 Yards vs A&M in '18.

What "reasons" are you speaking of?

I believe so too. Also, just like Joe Burrow, Jayden Daniels is a sensational person. I know we all love rooting for him!

He still doesn't throw on time. He throws when he sees a receiver open, not when he sees that a receiver will be open. He has to develop into a rhythm passer to succeed at the next level.
