re: The Waters pass was not dumb, and not calling a time out isn't a bad call

He missed 4 close range alley oops tonight. He hit the rim once or twice and was off target on every one
Guess what, Waters has 4 or 5 WTF plays every game. He also carries this team on his back often. Usually as he goes, we go. If you want the good he brings, you have to be willing to accept the bad.

Couldn't agree more. My only disagreement with people is that Waters single handedly lossed the game. The decision was dumb.

That’s a straw man dude, I’m not saying Waters sucks at all but that was a terrible decision that’s the point.

Now this I agree with 100%.

Except, it wasn't a terrible decision. Poor execution, yes.

Yes it was a terrible decision it’s a low percentage play for all world players much less college guys. That makes it a stupid decision.

Was abso-fricking-lutely a stupid decision. I hope CWW tore his arse out of the frame.

So, if he would have walked up 10 feet, to in the 3 point line area (a play they have successful run tons this season) it would have then been ok?

C'mon man, it was a terrible decision given the game situation. Even if it had worked.
I said in another thread, I don't mind being aggressive there, but drive and get the ball in the paint, at least.

The only time you ever throw one from there is when you’re up big and it’s a fast break type play. Any other situation it’s a 1 in 10 chance

What's a better shot than a wide open dunk?
You’re fluffing it up calling that an open dunk
lsu was getting to the line at will. You run clock & attempt to draw the foul unless you have a sure basket. That alley oop surely wouldn’t qualify
As for timeout there’s no true hierarchy established on this team esp when Waters played like he did tonight. You’d like to see a stoppage there & give your team a little direction. Smart got a decent look but once you see him dribble down into the corner you need to take a TO. That’s the last spot you want to be

If he cuts the distance in half yes it increases his chances greatly. Still not a smart play in that situation but much better than the shite he pulled.

Waters needs to value the basketball from opening tip till clock hits zero.
He has started 50+ games now.
No way Wade could have imagined that pass at that point of the game.
He has to be better.

It was an undisciplined play. We were killing them at the freethrow line. We had all the momentum. That pass was unnecessary and undisciplined. As was smarts shot the possession prior. I can assure you WW didn't approve of either.

It’s not an open dunk, an open dunk is when you have the ball alone that was a 45 foot alley pop pass that’s not an open dunk at all.

We killed them on the offensive boards. Their big was out. Smart play is to run the offense and crash the boards

Guess I need to rewatch the play. In the heat of the moment, I thought the dunk was wide open and the pass was a bit off.
If the pass was contested, then it makes it a bad decision. I didn't see it that way watching live though.

Is this where you tell us a half court shot is the same as a layup? Because they both have a chance to go in?
Posted on 2/2/19 at 7:55 pm to GRIZZ
This is the point that’s getting lost in this absurd discussion. We were getting to the line at will, they fouled us almost every trip down in the final few minutes. That game was 95%+ ours if we just go by the book.
