I don’t get why folks feel like the Saints are obligated to take LSU players. They take guys they feel give them the best opportunity to win football games. How many Ohio State players do the Browns pick?

The Jacksonville jags outhere draft plenty of players from University of Florida and surrounding universities. Unfortunately I think Fred Taylor was the only good one the rest have sucked here Derek Harvey, Reggie Nelson, Tevan Byrant, and the verdict on this year's CJ Henderson is unknown. Fwiw i think the jags have drafted more LSU players than the saints and they have only played since 1995.

And the jags are crushing it in the nfl. Wish the saints would win as much as them

And it would be more realistic for ohio st fans to complain, the browns dont even win. The saints are incredibly successful and lsu fans still think the saints are unreasonable.
Think it has to do with the victim complex our fanbase has.

Historically, the Saints, which “should” know drafting a highly ranked LSU player would boost in-state interest and possible season tickets, have NOT done so.
I think they’re more concerned about winning.

don't act like the city and state are doing some favor for the Saints. It's an equal trade.

despite having arguably the best QB of all time.
what kind of moron is arguing that. He's not even the best qb of his generation. At best, he was arguably the 2nd best at times but ranged between 2nd and 4th best.

Stfu, CSP been there since 2006....2 players selected from a school that yearly puts out top talent into the NFL and is a 50 minute drive up the interstate.

He sure as shite loves Ohio State, which is fine they put out great players, but no one needs your reasoning to know he just does not prefer talent from LSU over other schools for whatever reason.

This argument is dumb. Have you been to a saints game in the last 15 years? They are all sold out.

I want LSU players in the saints as much as the next guy but the people acting like it hurts the saints bottom line are dumb.

WTF? The man leads the NFL in nearly every QB category in its entire history and has a Super Bowl ring unlike Marino.
Brady has so much shady shot in his wins that I’ve discounted all but one. Every other one had controversy starting with the tuck rule.

I’m just quoting EVERY Saints fan at the end of every season that last 3. Enjoy another loss to an underwhelming Minnesota team.
Because to get to the level the rest of the NFC has reached, has gotten a hell of a lot harder.

Great thread...
To add, there is no connection with pro teams and the local colleges nearby, that's just the way it is.
Players are graded by each team and the higher graded players, along with position of need, get the call. I will add that if 2 players are graded equal, the conference and level of competition can have an impact....but the name of the school is irrelevant.
It is 100% BUSINESS at the pro level!

Maybe you shouldn’t cast stones and think before you post retarded shite like this...

Let it go. LSU puts good pros in the league and the Saints draft well. They are not mutually exclusive.

That's lazy journalism by whomever put this together for LSU. The ravens of today were the Brown pre 1996. And they definitely drafted LSU players pre 1996.

This is a lazy post, because you should be aware that part of the agreement with the browns/ravens was that Cleveland got to keep their records/history etc

Over the last ten drafts the Saints picked more Big Ten guys than SEC guys even though the SEC has been curb stomping all comers in the field and in the draft.

Remember when Steve Spurrier decided to go to the NFL, and he took the Redskins job and proceeded to pretty much fill the roster with former Gator players? How did that work out for him?

Spurrier didn’t draft former Gator players. He signed 3 veteran WR’s and 2 veteran QB’s that knew his system but he drafted QB Patrick Ramsey in the 1st round. All 5 former Gators were gone before Spurrier’s second season.

On the other hand, Jimmy Johnson inherited Michael Irvin and made high draft picks out of players like Russell Maryland, Jimmie Jones, Steve Walsh, Kevin Williams, Darrin Smith and several other Miami players. He also supplemented his roster with veterans like Bernie Kosar, Danny Stubbs, Alonzo Highsmith and Alfredo Roberts. Worked out pretty well for him.
