I would tell his arse to get back in that locker room and finish what he started. He might not listen but he would be told.

You missed my point. I just didn't want to say it so aggressively.

I would encourage him, strongly, to finish the season THEN do whatever.....

The packaged deal with the second kid is a strong indicator of who’s pulling the strings. I really don’t think LSU did wrong by Max or the family. He had every opportunity to prove himself at LSU.

The difference between 6 and 8 wins is probably 3-4 short completions by Max.

Free degree? Worthless today. Nobody even has to pay their student loans.
Either give me 1,000,000 NIL or I leave.

Yes, Nebraska's QB is in the portal. Martinez I think

What was everyone’s knock on him? I think he was really streaky if I remember correctly. Play like a world beater one drive, can’t convert a third down the next. I’ve never paid much attention to Nebraska aside from watching a game or two with my ex because she’s from there. Hell of a fanbase. We could learn a thing or two from them.

It may not be the biggest achievement for our program but it sure would be embarrassing to lose it. And if someone would rather not go to a shitty bowl than play in one, I highly doubt they’d ever played a sport.

Our LSU Tigers will play in the Texas Bowl. They want to represent. There's more to this story than we know right now.

Almost as if kids need to enroll for spring semester ASAP?

Why would BK tell his only experienced QB that before the bowl game? Wouldn’t he wait until after to have that kind of conversation?

“Hey, man. You have no shot to be our QB next year but go out there and win this bowl game for us.”

That’s absurd.

I think Kelly probably telling the Johnson family that Max would not be the starter and the younger brother signing early before the bowl game had everything to do with Max hitting the portal ASAP. The Johnson brothers are a package deal and also believe they will play football closer to home in Georgia. I wish both would have played at LSU but I trust BK in running this program going forward.

What likely happened was Coach Kelly saw Max’s play this season and came to the conclusion that the kid would never snap a ball at LSU again and this allows the Johnsons to go ahead and start looking elsewhere.

Not even remotely possible. Returning upperclassman QB on a roster with two scholarship QBs…..no way in hell BK shows up and tells him to transfer. Plus his family has one of the best TE recruits in the country and you lose him too?

Johnson’s must have been eyeing the portal when the season went to crap. Probably around the time the fans lobbied for Nuss as starter. Never considered Max a quitter but damn

I also agree with your post. Hate losing our returning starter the past 2 seasons but as mentioned on the rant the transfer portal is a game changer now.

Why wouldn’t BK have that conversation after the goal game?

I am sure the Johnson family has some pride within them and Kelly giving them that news might have bruised that pride a little. The biggest factor I believe was them wanting to move on when Jake Johnson picks his college with the early signing period. I got a bad feeling both are UGA bound.

For starters, I wouldn't tell my son to do anything.
That's a weird parenting practice.

However, seeing that he started 12 of 12 games this season and after mulling it over with mom and dad and he wants to go somewhere else next season, I would encourage him to play one more game and then it's done. One more game and you can throw passes to your brother at some other school.
What if he shreds his ACL in that one game or the practices leading up to it?

As silicon stated, it could help his stock in transferring
Any school he could transfer to has plenty of film on him

it wouldn't end on a sour note with his teammates, the fans, what have you.
I promise his teammates get it. Appeasing a few internet warriors who trashed their kid all year won't make it any less sour for the Johnson family. And he seemed to be on a pretty high note after throwing a game-winning hail mary against aTm.

Instead, he's leaving now to do....... what?
Vet his options and enroll at his next school

The timing is right if you're transferring. I'm not a fan of it, but he's gotten blasted multiple times a game. Why take another if you know you aren't going to be here? Also, he needs to pick his school so he can enroll for the next semester that starts in January.

bullshite. Brian Kelly saw our two qbs play and told the better one that he’s not gonna play?
