The only person who hasn’t said Jayden Daniels won’t play in a bowl game is..
Posted by penman

Jayden Daniels.
Records seem to matter to the LSU quarterback.
Big wins against A&M and a bowl contest could really establish important records for Daniels, Nabers, and other Tigers.

This is just wishful thinking by LSU fans who have to pray for catastrophe.
Maybe he’ll play, maybe he won’t. But Tiger fans can’t help but hope for the worst.
Hell there are already people who can’t wait for Perkins to transfer (even though there no evidence it’s even being considered)because the have to have something to melt over.

Daniels is a competitor, competitors dont skip games.
Reminds me of Bama fans last year when they were expecting Bryce Young and Will Anderson to skip the bowl games after their loss to us. It felt weird that I had to console Bama fans but I told them that Bryce Young seemed like a guy that sees things through to the end and I didn't think he'd skip the bowl, though I wasn't sure about Anderson. Turns out they both played.
I get the same vibe from Jayden. Maybe I end up being wrong but I just don't get the feeling he's going to skip the bowl, he seems to enjoy playing with his teammates and I think he'll go out there for one last hurrah with them

Not sure if he would play but if I were to advise him either way, I'd tell him not to play. The bowl game will not define him.

Heisman will be long over. He would be foolish to play in a meaningless game when he is being projected as a top 10 pick. What is wrong with some of you?

I think it's up to each individual player and I have no qualms either way. I think if we had an extremely undeveloped backup QB he might be more inclined to play but Nuss is more than capable with 2 weeks to prepare. On the flip side JD seems to thoroughly enjoy playing with this team and I could easily see him playing.

I think most are just saying they wouldn't blame him if he skipped the bowl game.
That's not an indictment of Daniels, but the bowl system in general. In no other sport (except college basketball with the NIT) do we have a "post-season" largely devoid of competitive stakes. For example, there is no greater prize to be gained by winning the Citrus Bowl...other than just saying you won the Citrus Bowl. Win or lose, the result is the same. The season is over. For many guys, by the time the end of November rolls around they are tired, physically beaten up, and just wanting a break after a 4 month non-stop grind. So going through another 15 practices and playing a game where there is no advancing to the next round with a win isn't all that attractive. For some players, like Daniels, there is the potential of a lucrative pro career waiting for them, regardless of it they play in the bowl game or not. One, that can be significantly derailed by injury in the bowl game. Even if the risk of that may be low, it's still well beyond zero.
As a fan I would love to see him play one more game. As a man well beyond my college years now I would tell every player that you only get once chance to be 20, 21, 22 years old, and only so many chances to play a college football game. Once it's gone, it's gone. So take every opportunity to play that you can while you can. Nevertheless, I'm NEVER going to criticize a player such as Daniels, Naber, Thomas, etc for skipping a bowl game to protect their future NFL prospects because I, SELFISHLY, want to see my team have the best chance to win.

And if he were to suffer a Jordan Travis type injury are you, and others who were taught to (expect someone else) to finish what he starts SOLELY for your entertainment as a fan, going to start a collection to fund the loss of earnings he will have suffered by playing in the game?
The bottom line is the kid will have a potentially lucrative career waiting for him beyond January 1st. One where he can earn more than 99.9% of all Americans. I sure as hell am not going to tell him he should or should not play simply because I want him to strictly for MY entertainment.

He'd be playing without his top 2 WRs.

EVERYONE skips bowl games. It would be the large exception for him not to...especially for a lower tier game.
It's like you haven't been paying attention over the last 10 years.

IDK, the walk through the Trophy Room at LSU is very impressive to prospective student-athletes. Stacking hardware, even in down years, has its place, just maybe not for the fans who ascribe to a boom or bust mentality.
