The more film studies I watch online, the less frustrated I am with Baker.

Sounds like Kiffin pushed him to play soft to start the game. That was probably a mistake as we seem to have more success bringing pressure in the second half.
Even with the soft zone, I would challenge any other quarterback in the country to make those throws consistently. When Chambliss sees a hole in the zone, he rips the ball accurately and on time. Not many college QBs can do that.
LSU wasn’t perfect by any means, but they weren’t bad on the whole. There were individual ugly plays, and Ole Miss took advantage.
Hopefully we play more aggressive going forward and try to dictate the tempo of the opponents rather than sitting back.

I think the soft zone will work wonders against Reed. He wont be able to pick us apart like chambliss.

I would like to see the defense that could have stopped Chambliss that night. he was throwing lasers on target all night.

I expect them to play a lot zone but they're not going to play 14 yds off to give easy access throws. They eliminated that in the second half and with a QB that struggles with accuracy you don't want to give them easy throws to get into a rhythm force him to make tight window throws.

A great player like him is hard to stop. Containing his damage is the goal and we just didn't contain the damage at all in the first half. We would have been better off blitzing the house and popping the hell out of him making him worse for the wear later in the game if the result was gonna be 24 points anyway.
When Bennefield drilled him and caused the pick, he was rattled for a bit after that. No QB likes to be drilled. And they definitely don't like to be drilled repeatedly.

I think Lane and probably Baker as well didn’t want Trinidad running and didn’t want them to hit a big play early. Hence the soft which turned out to be way too soft zone

No, actually it was the worst game plan I’ve ever seen. Just completely dropping everything that worked and hoping you could put out a defense that you didn’t know how to coach and the players didn’t know how to play.

I'm fine with them trying it.

Its crazy how good TC is and how good he played that night.
But the entire OM team played very very Good, we juist didnt match them until the 2nd half.

I’m really not OK with them trying it. There was no point. You’ve got the number one or two defense in the country. Just use that one.

I didn’t like dropping 8 and we should have adjusted sooner. But if our offense hadn’t come out and played like complete shite outside of one first half drive, the defensive game plan is more understandable. Then we could have put them away after halftime. Leavitt missed several key throws that threw a big wrench in the game plan.
