Can your dumb arse read the English language? In my original post, I referenced the Oregon game as a decision made by LSU, which it was. I referenced the morning game as the result of the conference's greed in negotiating with the networks, which it is.

Extended forecast shows 87/63 with a chance of rain. Not much relief.

9:30 for me out here on the left coast!

Like I need another reason to start drinking at 9 AM on a Saturday.

What exactly is the SEC network? The SEC has the contract with ESPN, so is this going to be shown on an ESPN affiliate, i.e., ESPNU?

Me:

There is very, very, very little "ill will" within the fanbase.

You:

You continue to miss the point.

Really?

Maybe you just don't have a point?

I hate to get involved with this pissing match, but:

quote:

One home game is removed from the schedule so the tean can go to Dallas and make money for the Athletic Department above and beyond what the season ticket sales generate ( Iknow, you pay for fewer games, but the AD makes out like a bandit with the difference).

I think sacrificing a crappy home game to play in Dallas was a huge advantage for LSU, mainly because they won the game. Also, the $ generated at a home game is more than a neutral site game. Also, I'm not sure about the last sentence.

quote:

One game is played during the breakfast hour so that the conference can extract the maximum amount of money possible from the television networks.

Which only helps strengthen the 12 (and now possibly more) conference teams, which will ensure a quality team with outstanding facilities and support.

quote:

Accomodating the fan base is priority #245.

#1 or #245...not much difference.

quote:

Not saying I won't go. Just saying that they're building up ill will.

The ill will is the minority opinion.

What would YOU have done? We got a top 5 match up to open the season in a stadium that is top notch in a city that is a big alumni/recruiting base. Not to mention that if we drop a game and there's a whole bunch of teams sitting there with one loss that Oregon win is going to carry some clout. You idiots really need to think about what you're saying here.

Not in this case. We got a huge payout from ABC.

Not the game payout...everything else. Local hotels, groceries, restaurants, gas stations, etc. I believe LSU sacrificed a bit relating to the overall economics of it. That game was in the best interest of LSU football and its strength.

LSAT is that day too... and they're giving it on campus. I wonder how that is going to work.
