The decision of the game by Pulmonary was...

Pinch-hitting Arnold for Sandford with Arnold coming through with a 2 out single to make it 8-6 in the 13th inning.

Which begs the question, why not sooner?

Pulling Labas and replacing him with George, then Fowler, then Floyd, then George, then Fontenot!!
Incredible for an LSU team with "no bullpen"

It’s probably for the best you don’t try and go down that rabbit hole.

Same situation two innings earlier.

I'm still on medication trying to understand Sandford batting 4th tonight.

Seriously though, I can’t help but feel like we win sooner if he wasn’t there. Maybe but him 9th, or Bianco in 9th

I love that. Look PM deserves criticism for plenty of things, but this is a next level take. He makes a game winning decision to bring in a PH who comes through in a huge situation and you hit him with a “why not sooner?”
Bag on the guy when he deserves it but give him credit when he makes the right move too

I really can not understand that myself. I don’t have a problem with him playing over Drost or anybody else you could put in there but to go from not playing the night before to batting cleanup is mind boggling

Going to Wyeth over Arnold was bizarre.

Baw they’re going to say that he got lucky. They’re going to say that other teams would’ve won earlier because they may have scored a run before he made the move
BUT
PM made a move at a good time in this game. Who cares at this point if it was late? We know he’s leaving. We know the hope for a “deep in the postseason” run is a pipe dream.
AND
I may dislike a lot of moves he’s made the past decade. I’ve disliked moves he’s made this year.
But, at the end of the day, he’s a championship coach and I liked seeing him make “one last good move” tonight. Sure he could’ve made it earlier. Sure, he could’ve changed his approach years ago. But, at the end of the day, I’m happy to not be watching him lose every last game of his career. However he goes out, I want To see him out as a winner. He deserves a couple Ws at the end, in my book.
And
Hopefully the next coach is a long-term, big time, historical hire. With the upcoming Louisiana talent, the next coach has a lot going for him
TL;DR: PM an all time coach; won us 1 natty; don’t love all moves he’s made; still want to see him out a winner; excited for next coach: hopefully big name and hopefully a good recruiter and energizer, like Skip B.
What a rant by me!
Geaux tigers!

Sorry. He WAS a championship coach.
As you were.

The great news is he will not be hard to replace. Just look at all the expert coaches on TD!

Sanford, and there was really no one else left. You don’t get credit for that. If Paul brought Drost or Arnold in earlier we could have gotten to bed at a decent hour.
Instead he brought it Wyeth with 4 hits and who hadn’t even reached base in SEC play

Yeah, I thought it was a really shrewd and gutsy move to PH for a guy that had already struck out FOUR times to that point and had looked completely overmatched in his previous 3 ABs. Hell, it might have been Sandford who asked for the PH.
It was the most obvious move of the game and it took 5 innings for him to finally do it. Thank God the bullpen was able to keep LSU alive until it dawned on PM that maybe another awful strikeout might night be the preferred result

To all of the baseball idiots complaining about pinch hitting Wyeth over Arnold earlier in the game, Wyeth was substituted in the DH position and Arnold and Drost are capable of being position players (Wyeth is not). If you pinch hit Arnold or Drost in the DH position, at that time of the game, neither would have been available to go into the game as a position player if an injury occurred or a substitution was warranted. Paul made the correct moves last night and should be applauded despite the "baseball experts" on TD. Enjoy the win.
