the criticism of Pete Hegseth's physical fitness

I know the left is going to criticize everything he does no matter what, and i should just ignore it, but the absolute intellectual dishonesty of the left wing media industrial complex on this specific topic is jaw-dropping.
never before, at least to my knowledge, has a sitting SecWar / SecDef made such a concerted effort to 1) address the glaring issue of our out of shape military and 2) get out and exercise with the troops. to say nothing of the fact that he is actually in really good shape for someone his age, it is objectively and unequivocally a positive thing for a military leader of any rank or position, from corporal all the way to SecWar, to get out and PT with the troops. leading by example and demonstrating that you are willing to do the same thing you expect your troops to do is one of the most basic concepts of military leadership.
yet every left wing media personality (all of them) seem to be stumbling over themselves to breathlessly report that the 46 year old SecWar is not in as good of shape as a bunch of 20 year old Marines. unfair attacks on conservative politicians is nothing new, but this one is so far out there that it borders on preposterous.
again, i know i should just ignore it but this specific topic seriously pisses me off.

His speech he did yesterday (I think) on the battleship was phenomenal

Hegseth went out and met the Sailors and Marines on the USS Lincoln before it arrives back today. One of my very good friends, a Master Gunnery Sergeant, gave Hegseth his coin and got to shake his hand.

How can Pete compete with these two models of American masculinity? I wonder what Bill has in that little pouch on his right shoe?

i'm not going to bash any commander in chief for getting out and PTing where people can see, including Clinton.

They were making fun of him because he struggled benching 225.
That's all I needed to know about them.

There are a lot of desk jockeys in the military that couldnt run a mile without resting.

The left wing needs America to be very weak. There are many on here that long for a very weak America.

I saw a video which showed him benching 315. It's not overwhelming, but not bad for a novice.

He is probably in better shape than 99% of congress and 95% of the US population in his age group.

That’s hilarious because he was doing burnouts. There’s video of him doing 315 a few months ago.

Probably not well, considering his age and weight. However, I'm willing to bet the same would hold true for Bill Clinton and Al Gore in 2026. When that picture was taken, both men were about the same age as Hegseth is today.

I always file this under "They've got NOTHING left to fight with but the absurd".

are they really making this argument?
of course they are. they are the most shameless creatures on the planet.
The last secretary of defense, lauded by liberals, was an obese elderly man with cancer.

This is why I cannot stand people like Thomas Massie who has tried to impeach Hegseth. Hegseth is a leader and was there to welcome his troops back home. Our military is much better with people like Hegseth in control versus the status quo who put our troops in harm with ridiculous policies and procedures. Trump and Hegseth have absolutely turned around our military and using it at the full capacity for what we the taxpayers pay for it.

Because jogging is so popular among 80yr olds?
Maybe he can go bike riding?
