I believe Ja'marr Chase leaving had a huge affect on the cohesion of this year's team...once he opted out, I think the team started to lose some interest in the season...then Stingley being out for first game and us being embarrassed by Miss State started the downhill turn...

Woodward can’t do the job he has. Why should he get a promotion?

bullshite! That's the biggest crock of shite that I've ever read on this board. That says a lot. Show me this statistic.

Yale study in 2016 that studied this exact topic.

In stark contrast to non-lethal uses of force, we find no racial differences in officer-involved
shootings on either the extensive or intensive margins.

Agreed, it was a huge let down.

It was O’s similar attitude to your statement that created this shiny. It had nothing to do with not kowtowing. It was about not listening or showing any understanding of the players experiences. (Note that I said “experiences”, not “feelings”.)
Pretty much. Want to see a dichotomy? Look at how Saban handled that issue versus how O handled the issue:
Saban is a huge a-hole and a cutthroat coach, but he is also an incredible leader. Do you think he is fully onboard with BLM principles? It doesn't matter because he is fully onboard with his players and is able to put personal thoughts aside for them. Hence him leading them on that march as if he were leading them out onto the field, right out in front.
Where was O? Maybe Hammond, maybe Destin. It doesn't matter because it was not with the team.
Just a little piece of the puzzle for why each respective coach is in their current position.

This is #1. Everything else football related is a by product

Attrition. Most of this is a side-effect of losing and COVID restrictions killing team morale, but I have a feeling we are about to see this hit the recruiting class. If we implode on early signing day next week, this will erase the single bright spot on the season and encourage Woodward to make his move.

A primary obstacle to the study of police use of force has been the lack of readily available data.
Data on lower level uses of force, which happen more frequently than officer-involved shootings, are
virtually non-existent. This is due, in part, to the fact that most police precincts don’t explicitly
collect data on use of force, and in part, to the fact that even when the data is hidden in plain
view within police narrative accounts of interactions with civilians, it is exceedingly difficult to
extract.
From the same study.

We need to sell LSU more and get rid of the NFLSU bullshite!
Are we honestly pushing the “NFL pipeline” angle more than Bama, Clemson OSU etc?
I can’t imagine we are. There has to be some other reason why guys just roll through Baton Rouge that isn’t happening as often in Tuscaloosa, Columbus and Clemson.

My interpretation of that is that the use of force is not well documented excluding lethal force. Data on Fatalities/shootings (the topic of discussion) would almost certainly be reported and available.

Love him or hate him the one thing that Les was great at was controlling chaos. Granted most of the chaos, especially towards the end, was his own doing but he was great at getting his teams to play no matter what was swirling around them. Les would have never had a season like 2019 but he also never would have a season like this.
Disclaimer: this is not meant to say I want Les back nor that he is even a better or worse coach than O just making an observation.

I think what you are seeing is Woodward taking advantage of chaos to remake the athletic department and catapult himself into the LSU system president's chair. He needs an achievement like this to out-maneuver the presumptive front-runner, Jay Dardenne.
You are incorrect regarding your assertion about Dardenne's candidacy for the position. He is no longer applying, which was reported in October after the board voted to keep the President and Chancellor position merged as one. Dardenne only wanted the President position, likely because he knows the faculty would've revolted (just like they will with Woodward) if he were Chancellor too.
quote:
And Commissioner of Administration Jay Dardenne, who has expressed interest in taking over as head of the system, said he's no longer planning to apply because it appears the university will not hire two candidates and is staying with a combined president/chancellor.

Stupid to get rid of O.
He was the consensus pick for coach of the year in 2019. And fielded arguably the best team in the history of college football.
This is a bunch of O-Haters desperately trying to be right about something.

Nick Saban:
Apparently the dude to the back-right of Saban disagrees.

"That’s why I’ve been very proud of the way our players have approached it. I think that they are doing some things that can effect change in our community as well as the messaging that they’ve sent: That all lives matter, including Black lives."

He was at the Sandestin Hilton with his new woman this summer in the pool. That is where that one photo that made it online was taken. This while telling his players to stay on campus and shelter in place. Reminds me of that democratic governor of California.

Interesting, thanks TigerLaw. Did not know Jay was out of it. He was in that conversation for years. Will edit the OP.
