We are not where we are today for any single reason. It wasn't COVID, BLM, or young girlfriends. I think what you are seeing is Woodward taking advantage of chaos to remake the athletic department and catapult himself into the LSU system president's chair.

The relevant factors allowing such a move:

1) Losing. This is the worst team in 20 years and it is THE MOST IMPORTANT factor in making a change possible.

2) Title IX investigation. They are going to find enough dirt on O to either fire him with cause or force a negotiated resignation with a reduced buyout. This would serve the dual purposes of A) undoing Woodward's mistake with Ed's enormous raise and B) making it much easier to absorb Pelini's buyout.

3) COVID. We handled it very poorly compared to other programs. More than infection rates or contact tracing, it is the restrictions we have placed on the athletes that have led to a deterioration of the team culture. They are doing nothing but practicing, losing games, and sitting at home smoking weed. It's not healthy and no one is having fun. Ed's primary selling point is culture and he has failed miserably this year.

3) Turmoil in personal life. The divorce and photos of the new floozy in bed has rattled Ed. If drinking and a pregnancy are also part of the story, it's even worse than we know. Also, Ed and Woodward are not getting along as friends.

4) BLM garbage. Ed did not sufficiently kow-tow to the black players' political demands. Right or wrong, it created a divide in the locker room and another source of instability.

5) Attrition. Most of this is a side-effect of losing and COVID restrictions killing team morale, but I have a feeling we are about to see this hit the recruiting class. If we implode on early signing day next week, this will erase the single bright spot on the season and encourage Woodward to make his move.

6) Other NCAA violations. These would normally be minor self-reported things, but everything is magnified this year. O is notorious for getting into NCAA trouble.

For all of you who say this is impossible due to the COVID financial squeeze, I promise you that the powers that be will not hesitate for one second to clean house if they can use the Title IX issue as a cover and to reduce the buyouts. "No amount of money is too much to do the right thing and prevent sexual assault" is what they will say.

If they weren't about to move on O, they would have cleared the air by now. The athletic department announced a bowl ban 24 hours after Ed went on the radio to talk about how excited his team would be to play in the post season. Read the writing on the wall.

add losing most of your production to the draft and the rest to opt outs and having new PC and DC without half the spring and all summer to install playbooks....it really was a perfect storm situation...

I hate to break the news to you , but Ed will be here next year. You may as well get used to the idea.

Because statistical data proves that black men are not disproportionately subjected to deadly force by police officers. In fact, they are less likely to experience deadly force than white suspects. Crazy, but true all the same.

I believed this 5 days ago. Personally, I don't want him fired. I think he can win again with the right hires. I just think forces bigger than him are in play and he will be used to shift power at the highest levels of the university.

It was O’s similar attitude to your statement that created this shite. It had nothing to do with not kowtowing. It was about not listening or showing any understanding of the players experiences. (Note that I said “experiences”, not “feelings”.)

I would say Woodward’s performance as AD has clearly demonstrated he’s incapable of leading LSU as president. He’s covered in shite from head to toe. No way he comes out smelling like a rose.

If woodward knew about all that shite with women's tennis and did nothing and covered it bc the offender was a football player he's gone too.

I believe Ja'marr Chase leaving had a huge affect on the cohesion of this year's team...once he opted out, I think the team started to lose some interest in the season...then Stingley being out for first game and us being embarrassed by Miss State started the downhill turn...

not everyone wants him fired, but if he didnt act and knew about domestic violence or sexual assault and did nothing then he is gone.

you guys are all delusional! It is an odd year, we recruit primadonnas, and this comes with the territory. Ed will be fine and we will slowly gain back our winning ways, 7 and 5 next year, 9 and 3 the year after, and then 10 plus. We need to sell LSU more and get rid of the NFLSU bullshite! We will be fine. Recruit more in State.

If he is here next year, I still expect a move to be made on his contract and it will be re-negotiated.

Here's what I'm curious about. Back when the fan base was split on O, you and a few other people were on here daily, in every single thread, fighting the good fight.

Fast forward to 2019 and LSU starts rolling. Ed O has the full support of everybody. You, and a few of your buddies, all but vanished from this board.

Now here we are, and here you are, back in every thread. Is your sole purpose on this board to defend the honor of O? Or is it just the drama you like?

You know, Pirate King is one of the biggest bitches on here. But at least he is ALWAYS around fighting his fight.

us being embarrassed by Miss State

this was huge...no chance to right the ship with limited pre season for D installs and reps.

Pelini and O both react similarly to mess ups, blown assignments etc. I imagine the yelling and screaming was totally tuned out by players after week 3.

The outside events/influences are making a bad situation worse, and the players are like prisoners with Covid.

dont see us winning another game, think the Title 9 will hit like a sledgehammer.

Expect Verge to go, BP to go and Ems to retire.

O will only be allowed internal or cheap replacements which will cause him to fume (designedly so) but no action on him until November of 2021 when they can get a jump on the process instead of late to the party in Feb this year.
