Dude is a true Tiger. It is very unlikely he is retained by who ever the next coach is. He’s done a great job this year in my opinion. He embodies what it means to be a Tiger. He also didn’t need to come to be the coach in our time of need for the position.

Agree on all counts. I think the DL is much improved this year. I'm sure part of that is having Gooden this year and getting a healthy Guillory back but I think Kyle has done a good job.

If Kiffin is hired there is chatter that he would hire Orgeron as his DL coach. I'm not sure I'd trade Kyle for Ed.

Define great. Because the highest ranked lineman is #51 in the SEC for sacks. Nationwide we are tied at #376

Bernard Gooden - 2.0 sacks (tied)
Dylan Carpenter - 2.0
Damien Shanklin - 2.0

Thats a bullshite metric for DT's. Look at what the DTs have done this year. Multiple goal line stops, penetration that leads to disruption. It's quite a bit different than last year. Some of that is probably talent, some of that is probably Williams. But to just go off sack #s for DTs is retarded.

My favorite thing about the rant is that they Fill out your coaching staff for you…

We've got to be the only fanbase that always wants to fire the head coach, but want to retain said fired head coach's staff, lol.

I will get many many down votes but after the display leading up to and after the A&M game this year, frick Tommy Moffitt. He is the enemy now. Don't want him back

I mean I don't really care if he were to come back either, but what did he do leading up to and after the A&M game?

Huh? Dude built the culture at LSU and then BK sent him packing. He should have been pissed. This is the guy that built the monsters LSU had for 2 decades. You think he was gonna take that disrespect lying down? Nah

I have said before that Kyle Williams grade as DT coach is "Incomplete"...only been here this year and didn't recruit his players. Having said that, a new coach will usually bring in most of the staff. As far as someone else thinking Peoples has done a good job...NOT me! The DEs have been a JOKE at rushing the passer. Maybe it is a lack of talent but maybe it is partly the coach. He isn't as bad as Brad Davis the OL coach who is OBVIOUSLY GROSSLY incompetent!

The coaches IMO the new coach MUST retain are Frank Wilson and Corey Raymond. Personally, I wouldn't bother keeping Blake Baker who looks like an A+ coach against mediocre teams but more like a D coach against good teams...especially teams with running QBs.

He was under qualified and none of the young players like McKinley and Breaux have improved under his watch.

Hire an Offensive minded Head Coach (Josh Huepel) and keep the current Defensive Staff. Also keep Frank Wilson in some capacity. This would be a great scenario imo!

This sounds pretty reasonable to me. Not the Heupel part - but the rest of it.

Kyle Williams is a multi millionaire with a big spread in Ruston…. I am sure this does not bother him in the least bit.

I think he was willing to do this for LSU but he wasn’t coaching HS football because he couldn’t get a College or NFL job if he really wanted it after 13 years in the NFL

uhhhh

LSU had the #7, #28, #40, and #48 sack leaders in the SEC last year. To fall to 3 guys tying for #51 the very next year isnt "great"

He’s a Pro Bowler who was one of the best to ever do it. His skills were related to technique and effort and not natural talent or athleticism. Multiple Bills defensive lineman gave KW credit for teaching them how to play the position. If he can make NFL players better then I’m sure he’s got more than enough qualifications to teach college players. Bo Davis was raved about by posters on here but the players seem to be more complimentary of KW coaching than Davis. I’m tired of hearing about the Pete Jenkins coaching tree at this point. The dline wasn’t good under Davis or Jenkins in recent history.

You can always tell the people who don’t know anything about football when they start using individual stats to evaluate DTs. Especially when it’s only sacks. And they list DEs and LBs.

Kyle Williams is the DT coach, not the DL coach. Peoples coaches the edges. And Baker’s defense is predicated on DTs stuffing the run, taking on blockers and not getting pushed back, dirtying up the LOS, maintaining engagement long enough for LBs or blitzing DBs to come fill lanes and clean up at or near the LOS.

That can’t be judged by mere stats. I don’t think it can really be judged at all by the layperson. Not without knowing assignment and seeing the full 22. I’d say it’s almost impossible for us to judge how good a DT coach is at all.

I will agree that our sack numbers overall are disappointing. I said it when it happens and will continue to repeat it, but that injury to Reliford was huge and super underrated. Not only was he our best pass rusher, who actually finished, but it had domino effects that we’re still feeling. Pyburn is not the athlete to be a 3 down player for a full game. He had so many hurries and pressures that he just couldn’t finish off. He was getting a lot closer when was rotating with Reliford. He just didn’t have the gas in the tank to get home once he started having to play the entire game.

And Payton was an absolute beast before Gabe went down. He was getting to the QB with a ton of pressures, and when he didn’t finish, he was still close enough to get his hands up and bat balls down. He had a few huge ones on big 3rd downs early in the season. He started to disappear after Reliford went out. I remember some analyst before the season predicting him having a monster comeback season. Mainly due to having threats opposite him. He was great at FSU in ‘23 when he had a stud at the other edge, but a disappointing ‘24 after that dude left. This guy said it was due to him getting double teamed, or chipped by putting a TE or RB on him. Offenses could focus on him and neutralize him without a threat on the other side to worry about. I think that’s what happened here. And it looks like he got frustrated and stopped giving the same effort as he was early on. It’s why we started seeing more of Carpenter lately.
