According to LSU Sports Information Director, almost every player on every team over the course of the last 3 coaches has violated this curfew. yeah, not like he could have been drunk or anything. I am sure that was all JJ's fault. Didn't this guy have a mug shot in Florida. Probably a rap sheet a mile long too.

And as long as everyone is speculating. Maybe the actions of the LSU football players may have saved this chick from getting beaten by the marine.

I don't think it is so cut and dry that if the guy was on the ground, self defense is not a valid defense to the battery charge. It has been a long time since I took criminal law, but if I remember correctly, the law is that a person can use reasonable force to defend himself. You can also use reasonable force to defend a third person if that person would have had the right to defend using such force. So if Lowery is on the ground and screaming, I am going to get up and kick your a**, or if he was in the process of trying to get back up to fight, or any other number of possibilities where an 18 year old girl would fear for her safety and then the kick occurred, the "kicker" may have a valid defense.
I don't see this as a clear cut case of second degree battery just because the dude was on the ground.

You're probably right. It is difficult to swim in a sea of ignorance. Apparently no one bothered to read the police report, the facts released later, or the actual article which says the whole "stalking" incident took place hours before the fight at likely a different bar.
