As much as I don’t like him He has gone about this in a very respectable way. Sadly the LSU and LA state folks are the ones who have blundered this from the beginning.

Only Louisiana and governor coonass could continue to make Louisiana look like a fool, complain about spending, and then spend more than BK was willing to settle for.
This is why Louisiana can’t have nice things

As per ususal, youre an idiot
LSU spent weeks negotiating a settlement: Lower buyout and we drop mitigation clause. BK refused and filed suit. He wanted all his money now. LSU said NOPE, we will stick to the agreed contract, buyout over 6 years, and you still have to look for another job. Which works in LSUs favor, saving money, which was what the negotiation was really
BK dropped the lawsuit

What an embarrassment.
The LSU BOS did not do a damn thing to embarrass themselves or anyone else. 1) The AD "fired" Kelly because Kelly purportedly refused to make the necessary changes the AD wanted him to make. 2) The AD resigned after that for reasons unknown, but purportedly due to political pressure. 3) The AD's actions were not technically authorized by the BOS. 4) The BOS hired a new president and other administrator. 5) The BOS authorized the president to fire Kelly as he sees fit. 6) The president did so in a way that was in the best interest of LSU.
All of the other noise was caused by Kelly, his lawyers, the media and TD posters. The BOS members, to their credit, never publicly responded to any of the noise. They just went about the necessary business and will shortly hire a new coach.

Lulz
Landry dumped Kelly, fat arse Scott, bringing in Kiffin, and now LSU has potential to save money if BK ever coaches again. JBE would be threatening to shut football down unless we passed a tax to pay the buyout

Thankfully I didn’t receive an invoice

It's LSU and the state of Louisiana, what did you expect? Yeah it's embarrassing, just like living in Louisiana.

Some of you are lazy AF and stupid
Nothing has changed.
Go read the contract
LSU will pay about $750,000 per month and it will be reduced by whatever employment Kelly HAS TO GO SEEK during the next 6 years. or he gets nothing. idiots

Holy cope.
His lawsuit wasn’t asking for all of the money now. It was asking for exactly what LSU gave him - the buyout under his original contract.
LSU could have avoided the media spectacle by simply confirming he was fired without cause 4 weeks ago. They didn’t gain an inch in those 4 weeks of negotiations. If anything they hurt themselves by giving him an excuse (albeit a weak arse excuse) not to find a job this year.

These people defending LSU/Landry/BOS are acting like MAGAtards and just can’t see reality in front of their face. LSU was the laughing stock of sports media for weeks while all this drama played out when they could have given BK this exact deal which his contract required without all the noise.

First, Kelly was fired without cause.
Then Kelly wasn't actually fired. We were all mistaken, even though I received an email from LSU stating unequivocally that he WAS fired.
Then Kelly was maybe fired WITH cause, we're not really sure.
Now, Kelly has been fired WITHOUT cause.
Is this where it ends? Or will the geniuses who run things come up with some other new wrinkle?

When you are wrong, just own it
quote:
"LSU has never claimed that Coach Kelly was terminated for cause, and prior to November 10, 2025, never asserted that he engaged in any conduct that would warrant such a termination," the lawsuit said. "To the contrary, LSU repeatedly confirmed, both publicly and to Coach Kelly, that the termination was due to the team's performance, not for cause."
Kelly himself admitted LSU never did what you are now claiming. He wanted his money now. The lawsuit was filed on the 11th, when LSU was still abiding by the contract terms. The lawsuit even said that Kelly was still willing to entertain new terms. He got none
Kellys lawyers agreed that LSU was just continually paying him, but wanted a judgement anyway. Now both are back to the place they were on the date Kelly filed. LSU is continually paying him for 6 years. Nothing changed in BKs favor, and he dropped his own suit

They literally just went with the buyout terms of his Kelly's contract. Landry accomplished nothing but making Louisianians look stupid.

The purpose of the lawsuit was to put LSU on record that he was fired without cause. If he’s dropped the lawsuit it’s because LSU went on record that he was fired without cause.
They could have done so on November 10th, avoiding the lawsuit entirely.
I fully expect the termination to be negotiated and a settlement reached removing the mitigation requirement. Basically rendering the last month of consternation on all sides moot.
Posted on 11/27/25 at 11:02 am to sidewalkside
There are a lot of idiots on here that think the Mitigation Clause means something. Kelly can satisfy that in his sleep if his attorney has a pulse. If Kelly doesn't want to come out of retirement and work again then he won't and he will still receive his full payout.....all other things being equal.
Posted on 11/27/25 at 11:13 am to Gene Heinous
Should have just settled for 40 something mil, plus mitigation. Oh well.

Dude, you have no idea what was happening behind the scenes. You only know what BK's lawyer and the emotional, click bait talking heads told you.

The embarrassment was Sat night vs A&M.
