SEC Championship definitely means jack shite!
I believe what he was trying to say is that it doesn't mean jack shite because Bama made it to the NC game twice without making it to the SEC Championship game.
He fails to realize that both of those times the team making it was Bama. UGA didn't get the benefit of the doubt. LSU would likely not get it either, unless there is some serious chaos in other conferences. Sadly, this is what some of our fan base has come to. Lost all expectations of beating Bama. Calling a non conference OOC game the most important game. And hoping other teams lose a bunch of games so we can try to get to play Bama again.

To be completely fair, I do think that in the following scenario:
- LSU 11-1, loss to Bama on the road
- Bama 13-0 SEC champ,
There’s a very good argument to be made for LSU to make the CFP (depending on the landscape obviously).
However, in the following scenario:
- LSU 11-2
- Losses to Texas and Miss. State
- Win at Bama
- SEC champs,
I think there’s an even greater likelihood that LSU makes the CFP.
If LSU beats Bama, they can lose another SEC game and would still win the division, unless another team sets up a 3-way tie. Win or lose at Texas, doesn’t change the SEC west standings. And as I said the SEC champ has gotten in 13 years in a row.
So I don’t know how anyone can argue that Texas is a more important game.

Or that they are the only team to finish 11-1 without winning the SEC west since the SEC’s championship streak started.
As far as benefit of the doubt goes.. quite honestly (it pains me to say this), they’ve earned it since the 2011 debacle. They’ve lost 6 regular season games in 8 years. Anyone who thinks we are going to get the same level of forgiveness for a loss is kidding themselves.

I certainly hope we beat them, but sadly I don’t feel like I can go back to expecting it until we out-recruit them 2-3 years in a row. Hell, one year would be a start.

It is less important than all 8 SEC games. So let’s start there.

Okay! I have been convinced.
Momentum from a gigantic OOC game doesnt really compare to the Bama game.
Great work Tigerrant.

What are you referring to, baw?

It is HUGE. But, if you win every other game on the schedule, you do way more for your program and the team's confidence in getting to an SEC championship with a spot in the playoffs on the line.

Convince you otherwise? LOL! Yeah right! Like I care what your opinion is.

Every game on the schedule is important. We must take this 1 game at a time and stay focused from start to finish in each.
And my advice to the head coach and any other coaches or players thinking about or especially talking about the game against Alabama is to shut the f up about it! It's unhealthy to pin all hopes in that one; you end up way too tense when it does arrive. He has got to stop mentioning it! Plus it's embarrassing.

In other words just win and shut up until it happens. Fair enough:).

That's what he was saying.
The guy was simply saying take one game at a time. That's a fair take.

We need to play 1 game at a time! I think we beat Texas, but if u are going to lose its better to lose early!

I didnt give up on winning the conference nor do I think Bama drops 2 games.
I just wanted everyone's opinion.
Fair enough. But you just answered your own question; the Alabama game is the most important.
I think we agree, though, that any single game can be overcome for playoff purposes, with outside help of course. But for the conference, we have to win that first game in November.

The most important game is still Alabama.
We cannot achieve our primary objectives for the season without beating Bama .
The only objective we cannot accomplish with a loss to Texas is an undefeated season.

Sure we could lose this game and still win the SEC/make playoffs, but this is the type of game that wining could give the team the confidence to win all the rest of their games.
Most important, no. Very important, yes.
