No it's not. If we win convincingly in every other contest and play Bama tough, we get a rematch against Bama in the playoff. Guaranteed.

So in this scenario, a rematch with bama is "guaranteed"?

Bama 13-0 SEC champs
Oklahoma 12-1 Big 12 champs
Notre dame 12-0
Clemson 13-0 ACC Champs
Ohio State 12-1 Big ten champs
Georgia 12-1
LSU 11-1

I'd say that LSU is out in this scenario. Now, change that to LSU 12-1 SEC champs, loss to Texas, obviously there's a much better playoff chance. Which is why beating Bama > beating Texas

The OP literally said in the title to "convince me otherwise." Now I'm an "anal frick" because I tried to do just that? Isn't that what he wanted when making this thread?

Yes you are, because you can't grasp the jist of what he said.

Then shouldn't the thread title have been GA St is the most important game on the schedule?

You sound like a English teacher grading papers from a first grade class. Again, quit being an arse...

You are the only person in this entire thread being an arse, chief.

I think what he said was pretty clear. Who are you, that you get to be the only person to clearly understand some other meaning, besides what the OP actually said?

Excellent point.

Guess the bama game just falls in importance for me due to the fact that it's gone from "let's beat them" to "let's keep it respectable".

Texas, I feel.. is the first step to that and therefore the most important. Obviously beating Bama is monumental . But that Texas game will put a damn letter of notice out that says "Take LSU seriously".

And you can build off that and win win win.

Just believe that this will set the tone for the season.

Sure, but plenty of past champions have had early losses to worse teams that UT will be this year. We can overcome it.

Back to making the CFP with a loss to Bama. That means there are only 2 spots left to get in. Any of these teams could go undefeated and get in over a 1 loss LSU that didnt even go to the SEC championship.

Michigan, Oklahoma, Ohio St, Notre Dame, Oregon, Washington, blah blah blah.

You telling me 2 of those teams can't go undefeated and take the other spots?

Hate when people say prove me wrong...or something similar... It's assuming we care enough about your opinion to try

Texas is the most important game on the schedule. Convince me otherwise.

Every game is important. But if LSU is to lose 1 game this one would be the least damaging game to lose. Lose to a Ga Southern and there goes the CFP. Lose to an SEC school and there goes the SEC championship. As far as recruiting, beat bama and that will do a lot more for the image of the program and recruiting than beating Texas. The most important game to win on the schedule is still the same team it's been for the past 7 years, Sabama. I get what you are saying, but beating Texas will not raise the image of the program to elite status. Beating bama will get that image much closer to elite than beating Texas. And if LSU beats bama and then beats them again in the CFP, that will bring that image to an even greater height. Amen!!! Let it be so!!!

I'm assuming people want to talk football. And they are.

You cared enough to post that irrelevant crap. There is actually some pretty great discussion going on with alternating viewpoints.

It was crystal clear, but you and other idiots thought it meant it was the toughest. No?

Perfectly said. Tejas is the most important game on the schedule right now. We get past them, then the conversation changes.

The OP was obviously talking about the entire season. Which is goofy.

Just ask him

Either way, win or lose on Austin has no bearing on whether we beat Bama or not

How you could argue the next big/huge game isn't most important is beyond me, but you're still arguing over semantics?

Not once did I imply it was the toughest, or that the OP was saying it was the toughest.

Carry on with your stupidity if you wish though.

2014 Ohio St lost to Va Tech in game 2 at Home.

2015 Bama lost to Ole Miss in game 3 at home

2008 Florida lost game 4 to Ole Miss at home.

early season games can be overcome, especially out of conference games.

So you gave up on winning the conference? Or are you that confident that every other SEC West team racks up at least two conference losses so that a loss to any one of them can be overcome? Which is it?
