No it's not. If we win convincingly in every other contest and play Bama tough, we get a rematch against Bama in the playoff. Guaranteed

Which game is the most important on the schedule?

You are on here calling everybody names, and telling us what the OP was implying (which he clearly wasn't) and then ask this....after I said this.

quote:

LSU has the luxury of losing one football game on the schedule, except for one game, and still accomplish every major goal any college football team wants to accomplish. Is that one game Texas? If your answer is no, then ask yourself who that one game is against. The answer to that is the answer to the most important game on the schedule.

It's very obvious that Bama is the most important game to win. We haven't accomplished any of the things we hope LSU accomplishments in quite a few years. The one common denominator in those years is losing to Bama. People can down play the game all they want, but LSU most likely has to beat Bama to get where they want to go (without lots of outside help). So Bama is the most important game. It's not even really debatable to me.

"we get a rematch against Bama in the playoff."
the only way LSU replays Bama in the playoff is if LSU WINS the regular season match up. LSU loses, they don't get the same treatment.

Well Terry Bradshaw did give us bulletin board material for week 1. We know LSU is waiting. But one week at a time.

Really? That is easy!

Obviously the goal is to win all the games you play, if you do that you control your own destiny which is all you want. But you can break it down even further for LSU which would be three of the goals to attain.

1. Win the West
2. Win the SEC
3. Win the NC

So the UT game while quite important to the outcome and where we might play in the bowl season that games outcome will have ZERO affect on LSU’s chances of attaining those first two goals “winning the sec west and winning the sec.” And if we attain the first two goals, then as history would tell us we will get a shot to attain the third goal on LSU’s list.

No for us, and it has been for the past 8 years, the most important game on the schedule is the Bama game! And there really can’t be a legitimate debate against that! If we win the Bama game chances are we attain the first goal which allows you to try and attain the second and third goals on our list!!

Nope, no question about it the Bama game is still the most important game to win on our schedule, and probably remains that way until Satan retires!!!

Ok, there ya go Texas isn’t anywhere near the most important game on our schedule! What that game will do though when we win it, is once again shows our competition, we don’t frick around and we will come into your house and beat your arse!!!!

From the standpoint of, you know, actual goals, the Texas game is the least important. If LSU goes 11-1, the best case scenario for that 1-loss would be to Texas on the road in early September.

You don't want the 1 loss to be to Bama, obviously.

You'd rather it happen OOC, but not to a creampuff.

LSU will be at least a #2 seed in the CFP if they go 11-1 and only loss is to Texas.

It is decidedly the least important game from an objective point of view.

Now, if you want to get into subjective points about what it might do to the psyche of the team one way or another, have at it.

LSU vs. Texas, facing each other for the first time since 2003, takes strong lead, outselling the #2 game, Notre Dame vs. Georgia, by 68%.
According to StubHub, LSU v Texas is the most in-demand game of the season... of all college games... LSU v Bama is also in the top-10

Any way you slice it, this is a Big Game! Could be a tie-breaker when the playoff committee meets.

Also huge for recruiting.

I wish we could just beat Bama instead of thinking that our best chance to make the playoffs involves chaos ensuing outside of the conference.

Nope. TU game is maybe third most behind UA and UF. Just an important opener we had many of those. We lose it we can rebound by sweeping the rest of schedule which is a tall order but not impossible. We beat them we still have UF and UA. Those two games are much more important.

SEC championship hasnt meant jack shite for years now.

What? The SEC Champion has gone to either the BCS National Championship or College Football Playoff for the last 13 years in a row.

Bama managed to make it in as the second SEC team for two of those 13 years, both times with 11-1 seasons. Another fun fact, only two teams have finished 11-1 without making it to the SEC Championship game over that time span: Bama (3 Times) and Florida (1 time).

So to recap:
- SEC champion goes to BCS title game or CFP 13/13 years (100%)
- Non-champion SEC school goes 2/13 years (15%)

SEC Championship definitely means jack shite!
