Not really guaranteed at all.

For ONE school. That school is not LSU.

We are talking about a team that has clawed it's way back into national relevance. Top ten. In a state that we recruit second only to Louisiana itself.

And LSU has a chance to knock them off.

How is this not the biggest game?

So the most important thing for LSU to be able to accomplish is to recruit Texas well to you? To most, I would think winning the SEC and making the playoffs is what we hope for. And doing those things will also help recruiting every area.

Exactly. Can't assume anything as a non-conference winner until you know how the other conferences play out.

Bama goes undefeated
Big 10 champ has one loss
Clemson has one loss
Big 12 champ has one loss

A 1-loss LSU isn't getting in the playoffs in that scenario.

Your statement was, Texas is the MOST important game on the schedule. So you think regardless of how we do the rest of the year if we win THIS game we'd lock in a playoff spot? Texas could turn out to suck.

There's only one game on our schedule which could possibly have that kind of weight and it ain't against Texas.

I don't why people think winning against Bama is the end all be all of the season.
because the clearest path to the playoff, by far, is to win the SEC championship. And for a program like ours, conference championships and playoff bids are the goals.

Losing to Bama almost certainly means we don't win the West, since Bama would have to lose 2 SEC games for us to have a chance.

Getting two SEC bids to the playoffs is probably going to be a very rare thing (particularly if we don't even win our division), so we can't count on that.

Win the West - and we'll have a shot at the playoffs. If not, it's a very long shot.

You idiot, the next game on the schedule is the most important game on the schedule. But since fluffU doesn't count, he's absolutely correct.

What?

I just have a hard time buying that the 2nd game on a 12 game schedule can be the most important. Maybe if we played in a trash conference and UT was the only team we played this year that was worth a shite.

Of course losing to UT would be discouraging and I'd probably lose any faith that we would be able to legitimately compete for the SEC or a playoff spot. But 10/12 of our games and all 8 SEC games would still be left to play.

Nobody is saying it isn't a big game for LSU to win, but to say it's the most important is foolish.

Again, quit being such a anal frick.

The next big game is always the most important.

One game at a time.

The op obviously wasn't arguing that Tejas is the toughest game, but just as he said the most important now.

The OP literally said in the title to "convince me otherwise." Now I'm an "anal frick" because I tried to do just that? Isn't that what he wanted when making this thread?

Then shouldn't the thread title have been GA St is the most important game on the schedule?

I get what you're saying.

This game just has a serious 2011 Oregon vibe.

It was that game where everyone, including LSU started to think "oh shite, this is a championship team". And the momentum carried all the way to the end.

You lose to Texas and suddenly the outlook isnt so positive.

Then you're backed into a corner and are forced to win out .

Im getting downvoted to hell but people at least entertaining the thought process would be cool.

Everything to gain and everything to lose here.

LSU has the luxury of losing one football game on the schedule, except for one game, and still accomplish every major goal any college football team wants to accomplish. Is that one game Texas? If your answer is no, then ask yourself who that one game is against. The answer to that is the answer to the most important game on the schedule.

Except we don't lose anything by not winning. And we gain nothing, if business isn't taken care of in SEC play.

You take things way too literal. Only an idiot or a troll would proclaim Tejas is our toughest game. He simply said it was the most important.

I was responding to the jackass who started name calling because I am doing what you asked to be done in this thread.

I don't mind threads like this (even though your whole logic is a bit off).

Lose to Texas, win every other game. SEC west champs playing in the SEC championship game with a high likelihood to win that.

Beat Texas, win every other game except Alabama, odds of us making the playoff drop significantly,

So you are wrong. Even if I didn't convince you.
