Pretty close. 1989 Regionals at Tx AnM. I think LSU played Texas AnM in the regionals and LSU had to win twice in one day to get to Omaha. LSU won the regional and Texas AnM finished with a record of 58-7. However they weren't part of the SEC yet.

That was way before A&M joined the SEC but that was a great weekend thanks to Ben McDonald. That was the beginning of the golden age of LSU baseball.

2013 Vandy went 26-3 in the SEC (one game cancelled) and they lost in the supers.

Like Skip said. It’s not the best teams that go to Omaha. It’s the teams that get hot at the right time.

As someone who has been a college baseball fan for more than 5 minutes (as in I'm not a Tenn fan), I've seen several SEC teams have runs that were better than LSU at the time. USCE won 2 championships, Vandy has had the upper hand on LSU over recent stretches and won championships, Florida had a strong run including big wins over LSU and a championship.
None of the above examples brought out "jealous" LSU fans in droves calling them douchebags. The reason for this is that they were good teams that had at the time, more success than LSU, and didn't act like complete assclowns!
