Take a look for who started for us on defense last night.

99 - West Virginia transfer who only started 6 of 13 games for a very bad WV defense.
0 - a shadow of what we was before injury
14 - Marshall transfer that was going to go to Tulane because other SEC school’s know he is not SEC caliber.
8 - Georgia transfer because he was processed at 2 time national champ
26 - 3 star Fr who was last playing against Jesuit (I do think he will be good)
25 - freshman with zero starts all season. (I like him too)
15 - out of position SS/Nickel playing a field corner who can’t tackle or live up to 5 star potential.
2 - transferred from Texas because he was going to be 2nd string as a 5th year player.
1 - transfer from the PAC 12 where we know they don’t play defense. Strong but no SEC speed.
30 - linebacker who didn’t even win the starter spot this year even after playing a lot last year.
4 - best freshman season’s in recent memory and great blitzer and not used the same at all this season.
13 - Oregon back up rush specialist
House is awful and he might be why these guys are as bad as they are. But we ain’t got the Jimmy and Joes

That tells the story doesn't it. That's not an SEC caliber defense. That's a defense that just plugged holes with whatever parts they could come up with.

If you think Perkins needed to blitz more last night then you’re just wrong. Dude was swallowed up by big linemen and can’t set the edge. He’s not big enough for it

Agreed he can’t be an every down pass rusher but he wasn’t too little last year when they used him in different ways to do it.

His most dominant performance was against McNeese in his first game at Tiger Stadium where he had 3 sacks. He has 2 sacks for the rest of his career other than that game.

Great assessment til you went Slingblade on House. You showed us where we lack the players on defense to beat a Bama then you contradicted yourself by saying House is horrible. I will judge House after we get a healthy secondary and more quality defensive recruits.

House of course shares some of the blame but i said it before but there isn’t a DC who could turn this group around

The most troubling part is there are no 4 & 5 stars on the DL coming in. I can’t believe we haven’t seen more of Weeks and Womack, hoping we don’t lose them to the portal

We have as many "Jimmy and Joes" as any other team Alabama has played. Only team they scored more against was Middle Tennessee.

What I don’t really understand (probably from ignorance) is why we continued ineffectually rushing four instead of a) rushing three and spying/delaying Perkins, or b) rushing three linemen and bringing DBs in disguised blitzes off the edge. I get that neither of these are necessarily solutions, but it’s crazy that the defense was so futile.
