I wonder if the rising expense and demand of women's basketball has negatively effected how much the administration cares about softball?

Put it this way, Beth owes a debt of gratitude to Kim Mulkey. Since we have a “women’s sport” annually winning and competing for NC’s, that reinforces Scott’s inclination to leave softball alone and let Beth coast.

I don’t think Kim mulkey has anything to do with Woodward extending Torina. It was just a courtesy for the recruiting trail as it’s standard procedure for coaches to have a few years left on their contract. What sucks is that LSU pays Beth incredibly well so extending her is a much bigger deal than 9/10 active coaches

There is a difference between being broke and being poor. But LSU is both. The AD is worth $200,000,000.00 a year and they can't make ends meet.

Our Head Coaches are donating salary to contribute to the NIL fund, we can't afford a $1.365M to buyout a softball coach that can't beat Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond. Mortgage payments are due on the $1B worth of improvements they made, we keep making hires of football coaches that cost us money and can't stay on top, and the worse we get competitively the less checks ESPN is writing us. We are $80,000,000.00 behind Texas in discretionary funds and the current landscape is requiring us to purchase players. So which way would you say this train is trending?

Who would you hire ? Just curious what type of coach could we get

If I had my preference I would go after the Arkansas coach Courtney Deifel, but that's just my opinion if we were to change coaches but I really don't think that's still happening

Why would a 2 time All-American be looking to play somewhere else?

It doesn't take a genius to figure the answer to that one. She wants to go out a winner and possibly get to a championship, that's why. She knows her chances of doing that with Beth Torrino is not very good at all, after seeing the past few seasons. Beth is bringing us down quickly and the only ones with blinders on are the LSU upper echelon who does the hiring and firing.

Hold on, we want to fire a coach who has been to 4 WS in 14 yrs to hire a coach who has never been there in 10 yrs? Interesting

Arkansas coach Courtney Deifel,

I'd prefer someone else but i will make your argument for you to play devil's advocate.

beth-zero sec regular season titles or tourney titles in 14 years.

deifel- 2× SEC Regular Season Championships (2021, 2022)
SEC Tournament Championship (2022) in 10 years.

deifels no WCWS since 2016..none for beth since 2017.

beth has made 4 WCWS- deifel none. however what have you done for me lately? how's that working out for us now?

who has higher upside? what are facilities like at arky compared to LSU? money situation? Would deifel do better at LSU?

Deifel is the closest from last sec title as beth has never won one.

i think we can do better though

My guess is she wants to go to college World Series during her college career; not happening at LSU.

Good for Sydney. She's too good to play on a team which will never compete for a title

Who do you think is better that LSU realistically has a chance of getting? That’s the problem with all those clamoring for Torina to be fired. They don’t really have a clear idea what the alternatives are. The only coaches making anything other than one-off appearances in the WCWS already coach at better programs. I’m fine if you want to say it’s worth taking a risk and hope they strike gold with someone unproven, but you need to admit that is just as likely to make the program worse (probably more so) and not better.

i've laid it out many times in the years past.

sadly years have past and many i wanted (mike lotief, mike candrea, clint meyers) are not coaching anymore and they had WCWS experience as head coaches and two of them won multiple nattys.

I think i am one of the very few coaches who likes to wear a stopwatch at times around my neck just like coach meyers did for certain reasons. you rarely see that.

i have laid out some current coaching names still coaching also.

but it is not my job. it is the LSUAD job. it is up to him not me.

AD's always have a list of potential "next" Head Coaches. Even High School AD's.

Beth will not be "fired".

Guessing that means she’ll take some family time or accept another position.

About a 10 percent chance of that, but that is the only way she is not here next year.

IMO, a lot depends on the Portal- who leaves, who she "thinks" she can get.
