right - it's a game of inches. Close games are often decided by one play. FGs are good or no good by inches. First downs are decided by a half-inch.
One recruit here, another one there -- it makes a big difference.
When you're competing against our competition, all these things add up.
And in sports - it's often a binary issue. You either sign a guy, or you don't. We didn't.

While I agree that the melt wouldn't be nearly as pronounced it was just another thing that reminds us of the current state of the program.
Outdone by Bama again (with seemingly no effort).
Our lone remaining 5 star CB, Fulton is "up in the air?"
We didn't actually offer Goodrich even though he wanted to sign? Sure.. yeah. makes sense.
We "passed" on several other recruits.. any of which would be better than an EMPTY FCKING SCHOLARSHIP POSITION!
We signed the least amount of top 200 players since 2005 (3).
Finished 4th/5th(?) in the SEC.
O pretty much has a breakdown during the conference.
None of this inspires confidence.
But sure. If he would've landed a top 5 class, and won the SEC, and beat ND, and hired a good OC, and taken fault for HIS mistakes.. then yeah.. I wouldn't be upset.. but I'm too "result oriented" I guess.

Our class is well rounded toward our needs. He signed a lot of talent. You’d hear these losers crying if our class was #1.

There's some truth to this. This board melted down when we went 2 for 5 instead of 5 for 5 in 2014 and still ended up with the #1 player/RB in the country, the #1 safety, and the #2 class nationally with four 5* recruits, but that wasn't acceptable because we lost Speedy Noil to A&M, Tony Brown to Alabama, Hootie Jones to Alabama, and Gerald Willis to Florida.
