Stubhub added a feature today that now show's fees up front

Forever second hand ticket companies have waited until the very last moment to show (sometimes exorbitant) amounts of fees. Clearly it's been working for them as they seem to continue to grow and who am I to tell them how to operate their business. But I applaud them for adding this feature in and making it more transparent for all of us to see immediately how much the FULL price of a ticket would be especially for high demand events where tickets may disappear very quickly.

Ticket master fees are sometimes 50% less than stub hub in some cases. I got burned in the past.

That has always been a feature

You could always toggle to show the fees

Yes, all you have to do is click filter and click show fees. All the fees will be there and you will not have to wait until check out to see them.

It's been there for a long time. They claim that people don't want to see actual total cost up front...BULLFLIPPINGSHIT! BUT, for some reason that feature doesn't seem to show ALL of the fees for this particular game. They are charging A LOT more than they normally do...it's absurd!

As an aside, the transaction fees that all the ticket brokers add are ludicrous. I was looking at SB tickets (I'm obviously not any more with the Saints losing) and places like StubHub were adding $1000+ in fees on a $4500 ticket. For what? Listing the ticket on their website?
I have to say one of the good things our government did down here in Australia was introduce legislation that required ticketing websites to only charge fees that are reasonable and proportionate to the cost they incur in listing/advertising them. It stopped quite a bit of price gouging.

Damn apparently I’m just dumb AF

I’m okay with someone making a buck, but 10% fees seems reasonable to me. These frickers are charging 30-40%.

I agree that it's fair for StubHub, SeatGeek etc. to charge a fee to use their service.
However, I listed two tickets for like $70 on StubHub and when they sold I received only $50 back, so they have made $20 from me there. Meanwhile, the purchaser would have paid close to $90 with the "transaction fee".
So their cut is nearly half of the overall value of the transaction, a good portion of which is disguised as a "service fee". And where's the service? For that price, a guy in a tux oughta be waiting outside the venue to open a silver platter with the tickets inside.

I've never actually bought from StubHub because once the full price was tallied it was a showstopper.
Fwiw, I use the TD ticket exchange where possible.

Surprised that competition hasn’t driven these fees down

The service was already performed. Someone developed the web site, payment system, and delivery systems for you to use.

I mean, so did Uber Eats but I’m not paying a $47 transaction fee on my home-delivered burrito.
