Good! Let's get a Gov Landry approved coach.

We are not going after Kiffin. The Governor pulled back the curtain and showed you the plan. Believe him.

I will not be the coach at __________. Heard a thousand times before.

As someone reported correctly, his contract was extended another year until 2031 by winning his 7th game vs OU. He is earning $9 million a year not including bonuses. And here is another number for you. His buyout is $37 million unless there is a misconduct type situation. If you really think LSU is going to get Kiffin, you might want to hire a private detective.

We just had a single donor cover a bigger one, the money isn't going to be a determining factor in the decision

How successful would he have been without Pavia? I suspect not as much.

The Governor was grandstanding to "protect the taxpayers"...knowing the taxpayers aren't the ones who will pay for the new hire. That way, when LSU does make the next hire he can proudly say the coach will be paid without taxpayer money because our hero, Jeff, set the tone....despite the fact the new HC was NEVER going to be paid with tax dollars.
The donors will have the ultimate say. They are the ones who will have to pay for the staff turnover and they are the ones who will pay for the new staff. If they, collectively, want a big name HC and are willing to pay the big price tag that comes along with it, they will...while Landry says HE was the reason the "fat cats" are paying for the HC, not the little guy.
It's populism 101. Act like you are doing something great for the average man even though you didn't actually do anything at all.

Yep, and Brett Favre more than Curly Hallman. It’s amazing how a great QB can make a poor coach look so good.

The only way this changes is if OM drops one or two and misses the playoff. A playoff bound coach isn't going to step away. Had Kelly been fired in December, this would be a different story.

Yet he still has not signed his extension which undoubtedly will put a new buyout clause on him…

If Lane stays at OM hopefully they waste ALL of their money on him and they don't have any money for NIL transfers. Lane can't recruit to that shite hole, and has to rely on transfers.

Because he isn't a fool. He's in a market that includes LSU, Florida, and Auburn who are desperate for a championship level coach. His current employer desperately doesn't want to lose him

Brohm or Heupel if available.

another Hallman type hire is there ever was one....QB success story. Once he is gone, Vandy resumes its rightful place as a bottom tier SEC program.

That's his call.
But there is ZERO reason for Kiffin to sign anything right now unless he 100% wants to stay at Ole Miss and does not want to get involved in a bidding war. Hell, even if he 100% wants to stay at Ole Miss, it would be foolish for him not to leverage the openings at LSU, Florida and Auburn.
It's entirely possible Kiffin will NEVER be more in-demand than he is right now. He has to leverage it for all its worth

Kiffin owes Ole Miss 4 million if he leaves for another school.
The 37 million isn’t part of the negotiations for any school pursuing him nor for Ole Miss.

Kiffin says he will not discuss any job openings during the season. He did the exact same thing in 2022. Ole Miss obviously has an offer already for him and just waiting. I'm sure Lane is listening to UF and LSU to maximize his money. Just hard for me to believe he will leave Oxford while his son is playing football. 2 years from now all bets off.
Posted on 11/4/25 at 10:04 am to NotaStarGazer
I cannot imagine why he would leave. Oxford is a great place, period. Don't get me wrong, I'm an LSU fan, but you can't compare Baton Rouge to Oxford. Add that his whole family is there; he and his wife are together, his son is the QB at Oxford high and his daughter doesn't want him to leave.
This is not the same old Kiffin. He's found a better version of himself and, as he said," I needed Oxford more than Oxford needed me". He has said since that he no longer wants a statue, he wants people to talk abut him the way they talk about his father.
Translation: not saying he will never move but why jump into the LSU snake pit? As Saban said, NIL and the portal have changed recruiting. The advantages Florida and LSU might have in facilities, alumni support, etc don't count anymore. He'll likely stay where he is for a while and, when he goes, go somewhere more civilized than where LSU is now.

It's pretty clear you have never been to Ole Miss. And if transfers like it why wouldn't recruits? I won't mention other places from South Bend to Tuscaloosa to Norman that are hardly garden spots. It's the coach and the program that matter.
