They’re talking about buyout of conference championship games as part of the final negotiations for expanding the CFP to 24 teams. Thank Gawd!
It’s beyond time to get rid of those stupid things. They’re a liability for the teams that play in them. All the other teams in the conference get rewarded and sit home resting. We won’t have to worry about LSU playing in these is future years.
I’m actually in favor of the 24-teams format. I think it will do the opposite of what many people are anticipating. It will create MORE meaningful games because many of the meaningless games at the end of the regular season will suddenly become meaningful. Also, the meaningless bowl games can now become meaningful again as playoff game host sites.
The only negative is that regular season games in the first half of the schedule might not be quite as important or meaningful anymore because people know you can make it up easily later on and get into the 24 team field. The second half of the season will be better though.

Should have moved to the FCS model years ago

frick it. At this point just split and make it NFL lite. They've ruined the sport already might as well go ahead and kill it off entirely.

I'm likely in the minority however I've enjoyed watching the conference championships

frick 24 team playoff. 12 is too many.
They skipped over 8, which would have been perfect.

This.
P4 champs and 4 WC’s. Regular season and conference championship still means everything.
It could’ve been perfect.

Yeah huge playoff fields have done wonders for big games during the nfl and nba seasons. No team
Will ever schedule a big out of conference games again.

You ever watched an FCS regular season game? Has anybody?

I loved going to the SECCG
I love that we have playoffs but damn they need to keep the regular season more meaningful. 24 teams will have 3 and 4 loss teams sneaking in. So stupid.
Should’ve just done a playoff with each conference champion and maybe 2-3 at large bids. Top seed gets a bye

If I wanted the NFL or NBA, I'd watch 'em.
I just wonder if going back to how it was will ever be an option again.

I liked championship Saturday, but it’s almost pointless with 12 teams. SEC and B1G games are anyway.

This bullshite about how the regular season used to mean so much needs to end. Teams went undefeated and still didn't get a chance at a natty. Ask Auburn 04 or FSU 23. Have a tournament like every other sport that has ever existed.

Same....I dont care how irrelevant they become w the playoff....I always loved them and gonna miss them. Kinda hate everything has to be about the playoffs and playoffs only now. College football can be enjoyable just being college football
